Is the right? Is there some trick to get the connector to pop onto the ball?

Also, the cable on the left (red mark) in the engine bay, does it go on the left or right of the interior?

Yes, still have clips in.

How about all the other questions? Since there is no write up or video, I’m struggling with all this….

I'm assuming you highlighted red on only 1 of the cables... so all the pictures.
The transmission pictures have the red cable on the lower transmission arm, which is the left/right movement of the shifter.

Left shifter goes to lower arm on the transmission, and left mechanism when the shifter is installed (which would be the arm on the right in your picture)

Wait, after re-reading this I'm confused again.
Does the left mount in the engine bay go to the left or right side of the tunnel? I've gotten two different (at least to me) responses..... are the photos I have right (looking for a Yes/No answer here)? The red marker is only on 1 cable, at both ends of it.

Have you seen this? (1) Manual shifter installation and adjustment | DF Kit Car Forum

It's what I used to install mine.
Yes, but the direction are a bit confusing and it never shows the 'DS' in the engine bay. Since the engine bay mount is makes the cable orientation more Front/Back it makes this confusing. Is A or B considered 'Driver's Side'. Because B is on the left-(ish) side, which is 'Driver's Side'. But A is closer to the driver, which could make it 'Driver's Side'. I'm thinking B is the 'DS' one, which would make my routings wrong.

I think the drivers side linkage on the shifter is for the left and right movement of the shifter. If that's the case, then it should go in position B as you've drawn in that picture.

Not 100% sure on that as it's been 2 years since I installed my Cobalt shifter, 9 months since I uninstalled the Cobalt shifter and F35, and I don't have a Goblin in front of me at the moment- you need to figure out which linkage at the shifter is for forwards and reverse movement of the shifter, and which arm on the transmission it corresponds to, and then connect those two together. I believe the corresponding arm has the weight on it. It should go into position and stay there on its own, whereas the other arm on the transmission will want to revert back to its original position if both arms aren't actuated.

I don't remember how I resolved this. I might have just hooked it up and either got it right on the 50/50 chance or swapped it when it didn't seem to work right.

The marked cable go to the left on the tunnel, to the left of the shifter. In the engine bay, the marked cable goes to the left mount on the bracket (the lower of the 2 mounting points).

Thanks, this clears it up for me. Mine are mounted backwards, currently.
