V1 Sluggonaut's Extended Track #364 - 2007 SS/SC (Turbo) Donor

Rttoys
I'm rounding up parts for powder coating and found one I need help identifying. I just need to know if it goes in the frame color pile or the black pile.

I believe this was in the same box as the kick plate, but nothing jumped off the box's packing slip as to what it was. If you know what the bracket part is please let me know:

Yep, that is the coolant reservoir bracket. It’s frame mounted behind the dr seat

The inner tie rods are all the same. The outer tie rods provided by Df are shorter and go up front. The stock outer tie rods go in the rear.

I was able to get the frame and pile of parts hauled off to powder coat.

I ended up with 4 different finishes - Illusion Purple for the frame and frame-related parts, gloss black for a few other parts, matte black for the sheet metal parts, and wrinkle black for the intercooler and intake plumbing.

My powder coat guy is excited to get to do the frame. He has done quite a few parts using the Illusion color series but they are usually smaller parts and a lot of his full-frame projects are ordinary colors like black or gray. It's good to see him as excited, or more so, than I am to get this thing coated.

The miscellaneous blue strap was for the sub-frame that I had to stop and pick up at the storage unit where donor surgery occurred. I didn't get around to cleaning it but he says it will clean up fine in the blast room:

Metal Prep Services in Rockford. CMC was the first place to reply with a quote but a lot of people recommended Metal Prep, including other shops. When their quote was the same as CMC I let them do it since I was already there and it was closer to home.

I've had some smaller things done by Metal Prep Services, they did a good job. I think CMC raised their prices since I had my frame done by them. I couldn't believe how cheap it was but they had just purchased the business so maybe they hadn't really figured out pricing yet.

Just kicking rocks waiting for the frame to be done at powder coating. I crossed a few items off the prep checklist like painting a few parts that didn't go to PC, installing the steering rack limiter kit, and building the hose pulling tool.

I noticed the bushings on the steering rack mounts have pretty much disintegrated. Are those replaceable? I'm not thinking they are since I have not been able to find them anywhere. The rack seems to be in great shape minus the rotted rubber bushings - I'm worried it may be a source of clunks/rattles if I don't address those prior to installation.

It didn't quite get into the 50's as expected yesterday but 44 is about as far away from the 20's we've been in a while or will see in the foreseeable future, so it was time to paint.

Paint booth #1, which was used to paint the fuel pump ring I forgot to take to PC, the clutch pedal, and the fuel filler neck:

Paint booth #2 was used for the pedal box and brake booster:

The best heated and ventilated painting booths money (that I have left for this project) can buy!

I had the bearings pressed out of the knuckles at a local shop and when I picked them up he asked if I wanted the spare piece in the pics below. I grabbed it as I wasn't sure of its importance. I'm a little stumped as to why there was only one.

Is this shim/spacer important and should there have been 2 of them - keep, discard, do I need one for both sides?

I kept mine and did not need to shim my rear calipers. A lot of folks threw them out and ended up needing to shim their rear calipers. It's not a critical part though.

I stopped by the powder coater today to confirm the color for an unlabeled part. The toe link bar came up as John Doe during the process and he wanted to confirm the right color for it.

The frame just got done so I got a sneak peek and will hopefully be bringing it all home tomorrow. The build should officially start this weekend.
