Torrington bearings: This is semi-related, and I don't want to turn this into a torrington bearing discussion thread, but if you are interested in torrington bearings while you are installing this kit, as a "while I'm in there" upgrade, I found a really inexpensive source. I came across these 2 1/2" ID torrington bearings for less than half of the price of what I'm used to paying for them through motorsports parts distributors. I ordered them for fun, assuming they'd go straight in the trash at this price, but they seem identical to what I'm used to seeing so I'm assuming they're just white labelled. I have no affiliation and I still haven't installed or tested them, but the nice thing about torrington bearings is they're incredibly low risk if they seize... the worst that can happen is you are back to where you started before you installed them.
-What are they? They're a type of thrust bearing that you can place at the end of your spring. Springs exhibit a slightly twisting motion as they're compressed axially, and these allow the spring to twist without binding. The result should be a more linear and consistent spring.
-What are the downsides? More maintenance... most people don't, but you should keep these bearings clean and lubricated. I recommend spraying some IPA on them, blowing them out with shop air, and then spraying them with dry film lube. I also recommend coilover covers, even if you aren't running these. I only need to clean/lubricate torrington bearings every 2-3 years with coilover covers.
-Do I need them? No, not really, but for $5/corner, I'm going to run them. They have no relation to the performance of this spherical kit group buy, but I figured I'd post in here for the 18 people who might want to consider dropping in torrington bearings while they have their rear springs out.
Thanks for the heads up!
Only 2 left - ordered mine. Order now!

Just ordered the last set apparently. FYI for anyone clicking the amazon link now it will open to the wrong size (at least it is for me), beware.
Its weird I believe i was the first one to order after the post. My shipping date was for the 18th. I went back to go check and doesn't show me the size and shipping date is now 27th - April 8. Hope i get the correct size

Here's a snip from my order. Only thing I really paid attention to was the 2.5" ID as mentioned in the original post. These show as NTA4052...

Annoying thing is this version doesn't even show up now I guess since it's sold out, wish it would still show up as an option but just not available.

The PN I ordered is NTA4052, but the important bit is 2.5" ID. Mine arrived way earlier than the expected delivery date, but since these kits won't be arriving until May for everyone, I'd be shocked if any of these bearings arrive later than that.

@KSLunsfo Good catch... I updated that post and removed the link since it definitely takes you to the wrong bearing. I also added a screenshot of what I ordered. If you search NTA4052, I got a couple other vendors on amazon that seem to have them (but with low stock counts). As long as it's 2 1/2" ID, I wouldn't stress about the other details; uxcell is just a chinese distributor, and these bearings probably all come from the same factory unless you jump up in quality to $20/bearing for the japanese/german offerings.

For those interested, here are the STL's for the dust caps if you had your own color/style preferences. By default, everyone will be shipped 2 piece dust caps, with a rounded top, printed in black PETG. All designs can be printed without supports.
  • 2 piece bottom: bottom part of the 2 piece design
  • 2 piece top, round: default top cap
  • 2 piece top, chamfered: top cap with flat top and a chamfer. Print this top-side down so you don't need supports.

I know the link was removed for fear of ordering the wrong bearings but it took an annoying amount of time to find it and confirm and reconfirm. Here's the link I just used, they came back in stock.

Obvi make sure you select the 2.5" ID variant. They seem to come back in stock pretty regularily.

What coilover covers are yall rockin'?

Awesome, thanks for confirming!

I'm running ZZP coilover covers on the goblin and supermiata coilover covers on my miata. They're pretty comparable, both are nice and get the job done. There's more expensive options out there, but I couldn't see how they'd be any better.

Hi All,

Now that we're getting closer to wrapping up manufacturing, I have some actual dates, and have updated the Timeline. We're still pretty much on track to the original schedule, but I was hoping that there was an earlier track day for testing that would line up with me receiving parts. The best date I could find is May 10th. As previously mentioned, if you need it earlier, let me know and I can ship it anytime after April 26th. However, just be prepared for me recall it if I find any issues on my track/test day. With that said, it's looking like this:

May 10th (test) -> May 18th (ship) -> May 23rd (all will receive kits by this date). Please note that the weekend of May 22nd-May 24th I'll be doing a 25 hour endurance race, and will be pretty unresponsive. So if you have any questions after receiving your kit, please hang tight until the following week... I'm not ghosting you.

I may possibly want them a little early due to a trip we want to take in the Goblin if you’re interested in a road test? It’ll be around 1600 miles. We currently have 8500 miles on our Goblin.

We got parts!!! The shop ran pretty behind, but I think the results are worth it. This is the first batch, and I've got another batch pending. I still need to test and assemble these, and things are really busy with a couple races coming up next month and wedding planning (champagne problems :p). At the moment, I still think we're on track, but if something comes up with prepping for races, I may need to push the timeline back a week (or two at most) since I'm balancing quite a few things on my weekends, and I don't want to shortchange quality.
