V1 Starting the journey

Joebob
Automatics need to have the shifter interlock plug extended 12 inches. if your car did not have ABS, then you don't have the brake twisted pair that the videos show. This is a great resource for wiring and purpose.

Well as they say “Life happens “ or maybe they say it differently. Daughter moved to west Texas and covered her and her husband’s needs for a while and gave up on what I wanted. Well a divorce later she’s still draining my accounts but I had to draw a line somewhere. So nearly two years later and back surgery later I walked back into my shop. Holy crap stuff piled on stuff and everything spread everywhere. I want to return to where I started but I can’t even remember where I left off. I would love to start over and do a V2 but wifey squashed that. Hopefully I can still buy the V1 this spring. So I dusted off everything and found my partial wire harness. Been researching every single wire to try to find where I left off. Chat GBT has been a little help but only you goblin gurus are the real deal. So after going through hours and hours of posts I’m ready to pick up again. IMG_0109.jpegI am almost done getting rid of the cobalt from my shop and getting the wiring sorted.

Welcome back. I recommend contacting @Adam to find out when all V1 kit production will stop. It might be a good idea to get your name on one of the last V1 kits (down payment?). I would hate to see you get to a point and then find out a V1 is no longer available to purchase.

That is the plan
Will be messaging him this weekend

Well I decided to message Adam today. We will see what he says. I guess I will wait to ask the list of questions I have. No point wondering what this twisted pair is for if I have to change to the V2. I would not mind but wifey said I have too much time in tearing down the cobalt and too many $$$ to just change.

I found this to be an invaluable source of wiring information. I also have a 2008 2.4L auto that I then added a supercharger to, so I should be able to help with some things.

Well I’ve been working my way to the goal of building a goblin even though I haven’t posted. I have finished my wiring and fingers crossed it will work. I also spent time cleaning and going through my parts and placing orders for extra or missing items. I sent my engine off to be honed, bored and whatever else I could have done.

So I was watching a video last night, I think it was Off the Ranch, he said that the seats in the goblin weren’t adjustable. I’ve done a little searching but haven’t found anything. I’m 6-0 and the wife is 5-2. Adjustable seats would be nice so she can drive it too.

I used the stock seats with sliders, as they are really comfortable and I can recline the seat, use the space behind them by folding the seat forward.
I know that Chad (ctuinstra) used the stock sliders on a race seat. The stock sliders are hard to cut off, but it can be done.
If you spend a lot, you can get race seats with lots of adjustments, but it might be cheaper to get the stock seats reupholstered with less foam, and make them into race seats.

The Df corbeu race seat? I don’t think are adjustable. You can set it up for yourself and use padding for the wife to be comfortable. That’s what race/autocrossers do.

Many of us use the planted technology cobalt bracket, with an adjuster attached to the race seat to make it adjustable. Many also use the stock cobalt seats, that are adjustable.

there’s options.

At 6ft tall, remember that the adjuster will add a little height to the seat that you might not like, depending on your torso length and seat choice. I had adjusters on mine and removed it to get the seat lower since no one else drives. And I'm 6ft tall also.

I made my own brackets to keep the height down and used reclining seats rather than the fixed back Corbeaus. I am 6'1" and can slide forward for someone shorter or to shove stuff behind the seat.

Thanks
I’ve some ideas now. I know I am jumping the gun a bit thinking about seats while my engine is in Michigan and I don’t have my frame yet. My entertainment of late is solely watching goblin videos and scrolling the forum. So I’ve got all sorts of crazy ideas. That’s the point though, each one of these cars start the same and are customized to the builder and no 2 are alike.

My wife is 5’ and I’m 5’8”. We went to the junkyard and lucked out on a set of recaro seats from a Saturn redline which are pretty much identical to the SS cobalt seats. The seats have the factory sliders and are great.
