Suspension is done, minus maybe a rear sway bar. Havent decided on that yet. Rolls incredibly easy for an eye ball alignment. 20241021_161122.jpg20241021_161114.jpg

Waiting for cage material to show up to start adding more bars to the cage so I figured I would cut off all of the factory df tabs in the front. Won't be using any of them because I will have a pedal box and I plan on adding bars to the front. While I was up in the front of the chassis I added a hinge to the hood. I utilized the quarter turn clips so it's easily removable as well.20241026_131340.jpg20241026_142837.jpg20241026_144704.jpg20241026_153830.jpg20241026_163650.jpg20241026_164248.jpg20241026_165605.jpg20241026_165612.jpg20241026_170429.jpg

Finished the axle shafts today. I started with a set of audi axles and a set of c5 axles. I proceeded to cut them to length and utilize the ends I needed to make hybrid axles. The pictures show the process of merging them. First cut to required length (left is shorter than right), then I took 1mm off the c5 axle because it measured 29mm and the audis measured 28mm diameter. Then I found a piece of round bar with an ID of 28mm. Cut 4inch sections and beveled ends. I then beveled the axle ends to get adequate penatration. Mig welded them in. Ground the weld down flat. Slide my sleeve over and tig welded the sleeve to the shaft.20241027_115606.jpg20241027_115628.jpg20241027_115622.jpg20241027_144706.jpg20241027_144703.jpg20241027_130921.jpg20241027_131547.jpg20241027_131605.jpg20241027_134102.jpg20241027_154214.jpg

A couple pointers before you do it. If you buy the 38$ amazon pins like I did, they won't give you that nice click and pop when opening and closing them no matter how much you tighten them with the supplier spring. I'm sure if you get the 140$ ones they will do that. I changed the spring out for some heavier ones (motorcycle clutch basket springs fit perfect).

For the gas struts I am still playing with that yo get good functionality. If you use 5he factory mounting locations on the hood it does not give you good leverage to close it (increased effort than desired). I used 36inch 60lb struts from Amazon. They work very well opening the hood. They are just a little too strong and I don't want to glass in new mounts in a better location so I may order a set of 30lb ones to make closing easier.

Fantastic work on the x-bracing. Only thing left is the big 'open box' over the footwell area to x-brace and the main parts of the frame will be improved for torsional stiffness in the front. :D Be aware that using the Cobalt donor 11 inch brake booster will not allow adequate room. Using a smaller 7 inch booster is much better and a true x-brace can be installed (did this to my Goblin - it's in my build log in the late 30ish pages).

Thank you sir! Yes i will install a brace in the foot well area. I do not plan on using a booster. I will have a wilwood manual pedal box setup!

Yeah I appreciate the help and pointers, I don’t mind spending alittle more if it works better for sure and definitely need to get all tabs welded and taken off that I don’t need before powdercoat
