Ross and GT called it. Looks like the crimped portion of the ring terminal was touching the battery box. Solved the problem by putting one of the nuts on the ground lug first before the ring terminal. I guess I don't really understand how a ground wire grounding out in a secondary location an inch away caused a problem. Electrical gremlins continue to be my Achilles heel :p

The ground wire bracket has that tab to go into the hole in the battery box as an anti-rotation as you tighten the ground stud nut.

I'm packing up my newly acquired wiring harness to send off to Lonnie and I'm having trouble identifying one of the bundles of wires. I have a normal looking cobalt dash harness but then I also have this one that looks like it's been thinned and reworked already. It's not a factory tape job and I don't recognize the large round connector. My original donor did not have anything that looked like that.

(The dog's rope toy is not part of the harness :p)

It's definitely a dash harness. Has all the multiplugs for the dash side of the BCM. Also has the obdii, ignition switch, cluster, ambient temp, headlights, etc. The only wild card is this huge round connector

The more I look at this thing, I think it's some kind of custom harness with the back half of it missing. All the labeled wires are thicker gauge and much cleaner than what came from the factory harness. The mystery black connector has enough length to reach the main fusebox location in a goblin.

The only round connector I know of is for an automatic transmission, but this isn't that.
Somebody added that to your donor car. Stereo amplifier in the trunk?

Without reading through your build thread, what is the history of this harness? I see you had a donor.
I bought this and a bunch of other donor parts from @BigWaveDave. All of the wiring was in a sealed box that was sent to Dave directly from DF. The box contained a complete cobalt harness and also this Frankenstein harness. Dave told me he sent the wiring to Lonnie for the harness service, but when his build fell through the harness was returned.

For some reason someone added that in to make it easier to disconnect part of the harness. You just need the other portion.

Can I get confirmation of the size and pitch of the headlight mount bosses? I saw a post on here that said they're 3/8-16. I've tried that size bolt and it felt like it was cross threading. I tried to run the threads with a tap and it felt very tight.
