Welcome to the michigan crew. If you go on prismatic powders website you can order color swatches. They are free, you just have to pay $10-ish in shipping. I probably have almost a hundred of them before I decided on a color. There are some that cost money but those are the multi step colors. Even with all that I ended up going with a shade of grey. (An awesome color of grey in my opinion).
Please see if you have the pieces I am wanting to buy(I have an ad in Classifieds) as you disassemble your donor. They aren't big pieces, will pay shipping. 30222
Gray is an excellent color IMO. Then let the acceleration do the talkin'!

Glad to see another MI car getting built and sticking with the project! I'd say seriously consider anything you'd want to weld on NOW before taking it for powder. Quite a few folks have added braces, brackets, harness bars, bottle openers, and all sorts of useful stuff. That... or consider coating it in Steel-It (also a fantastic looking grey in my opinion) so you can weld through and re-coat later without having to deal with burning powder.

Well my friends. After 7 years of manifesting this project and holding on to all my donor parts I finally purchased my kit before the Gen 2 came out. Chassis #522. It was delivered last weekend. Now that it is here I will finally be able to update this thread as I progress. I'm excited to keep more constant updates.

Unfortunately I had to buy in stages. But I'm locked in and can't wait to get this built.

Located in Holland MI. Shout out to all the other MI builders I see on here.

As I scroll through build logs I love seeing all the color schemes as next step is powder coating and trying to decide the color.

Any tips and tricks for stage one build would be helpful.

Master ASE technician here, currently working for Rivian Automotive. So I was tempted to almost make this an electric vehicle with access to a lot of parts. haha but maybe in the future. It would do wheelies with that power train and instant torque. But that's a pipe dream.

For now I'll get it built and registered and insured.
Chase all of the threads , especially on the front control arms. Think about anything you may want to add ahead of time. Tabs for side panels. Tabs for any type of roof. I added a triangulated bar at the A post and the top roll bar to grab on to , to get out easier. Be careful of what wires you are cutting out of the harness. Leave some extra length of wire , incase you cut something you may actually need. IE , brown and black and brown and white wires. I made the mistake of replacing my clutch switch. I ended up having to take the car to the Chevy dealer to have the computer be able to relearn the clutch switch was depressed. Ever sense , I am being sent mail saying my 2009 Cobalt needs to be serviced. Hahahaha, Ihave only 300 miles on it sense being legal on the road here in Pennsylvania.
