V1 Brake Fluid Leak

escapepilot
I believe it has two retention clips. One holds the clutch line in to the elbow and one holds the elbow on. Once you remove the clip holding the elbow on, it should come right off. Be prepared for brake fluid everywhere.

Thanks. For others, to get the elbow off, you need to pry it after the clips are removed. I removed some of the brake fluid so I wouldn't have a mess. Does anyone know if the washer that is in the elbow should be on the fitting? I have an o ring on the nipple that protrudes through the transmission housing and then a conical seal that is in the elbow itself. Should that come out and go on the nipple or stay put?

I'm not super confident in my answer, nor am I super confident I understand the question, so anyone please feel free to correct me if need be-

there's an o-ring on the brazed end of the DF hard line that goes into the elbow from the front end of the car, and I'm pretty sure there's only one seal on the clutch pipe that goes into the elbow from the slave cylinder. Not the best picture (from ZZP's website) but I think the seal on the clutch pipe is this whole end cup sealy deal at the end of the clutch pipe nipple. I don't think there's supposed to be another o-ring in there, but it's been a while since I've been in F35 clutch hydraulics.

Rauq and Gtstorey are correct. I had to blow up the picture. None of these parts were replaced or even taken apart until today. The gasket was in the elbow fitting. I wasn't sure about it and didn't want to take something out and risk ripping it. On the nipple, it looked like there was an o-ring but was a ledge for the gasket to fit on. I am good to go here. Going to put it all back together and fill with fluid. If it leaks, I will be taking the engine out of the frame. Thanks all!

Hi All! Brakes are done and working well. No need for a new master cylinder. However, I put new fluid in the system and it appears when I pump the the clutch, fluid leaks out the bottom of the engine where the engine and transmission bolt together. Nothing is leaking at the elbow the same as before. I would think the slave cylinder/throw out bearing would need to be replaced this I am going to have to pull the engine. Anyone have any thoughts before I do?

As a last ditch to stave off having to separate the drivetrain from the chassis, there's no chance you're looking at residual fluid from bleeding or anything like that, right? I've gotten halfway through bleeding before, only to realize my drain hose wasn't fully seated on the bleed screw.

Only other places it could leak are the threaded side of the clutch pipe or a leaky slave cylinder, and yes, you would have to pull the motor to do either.

Hi Rauq. No residual fluid or anything coming from the top. Was able to take a look inside and not seeing anything there. Thought it was brake fluid but could be oil from a bad main seal. Going to test a bit more and see if running the motor (has been sitting for about a year) could help seat anything and solve the issue.
