Hello goblin builders and future ones.
This is my build log I live in NJ my plans for my build is to make it street legal not going to be easy in jersey but it will get done little by little. In will be taking it to the track while trying to get it on the road I'm starting with a 08 SS/TC with 110,000 miles with no LSD but maybe I can find a cheap one around my plan is to have 380 to 400 whp with some meth. I'm going to be asking lots of questions since I'm not a mechanic im a plumber but I do work on cars a little so it shouldn't be that bad

So the biggest problem that I'm going to have is that I bought it from a dealer that bought it in Cali and it was owned by a kid that loved plasti dip and he sprayed that everywhere in the whole engine and bay and I tried to power wash it out and no luck so I'm going to take extra time to clean engine before painting it sorry for the long intro

Doesn't look bad in pictures but it's bad it's black plasti dip

I tried that no luck I'm just going to have to wait till I drop the engine and I'll put it on a stand and go to work on it

So I got thru steps 1and 2 today everything want nice and smooth expect that the car came from Cali near the beach and there is rust everywhere but the hardest part was taking off the wipers they where on there real good

Sorry I might not understand you I just unplugged the seats from the car is there another plug under the seat that you have to unplug

P
So I think the pig tail your referring too is in video 10 at 3:28 it is the passenger seat wires

My question is do we need BOTH pig tails from the seat(s)? The reference pig tail above is in the main wiring harness... do we need the end that is where this one plugs into? If so, I will have to hit up the salvage yard I sent the junk LS seats to... :(

David
Yes you need both the one from video 10 at 3:28 and also they tell you to take the seat harness under your seat in video 14 at 12:28

$#$%#$%, looks like a trip to the salvage yard or else pay ~ $25 plus shipping to get the harness BFN from a online GM parts place.

Glad we caught it before you sold them. I'm not too worried about it as I can probably just hard wire it or buy a generic connector. I don't have the kit yet so I'm not sure what would be involved in hooking those buttons up.

Paul, I'm sure you can get by without it.

And no video showing how to hook it up at this time.... I guess I will get out my factory manual wiring diagrams and see what I can find.

I really wish there was a way for the community here to edit the documents. I didn't see it in the "Detailed Donor Parts List" which I think is why I missed it. It would be nice to be able to update it for others instead of having things like this strewn about in random posts.

you can find generic connector sets on Amazon - search for waterproof automotive connectors. I ordered a set of 8 pin connectors, but haven't received them yet - so I can't verify their quality.

I have also had good luck with a place called cycleterminal.com for Japanese motorcycle style connectors. All the stuff I've received from them has been good.

Like Slider said. You can get Weatherpack connectors from Amazon, Ebay, or some local parts stores. I sold my seats with the connector on them. The buyer was putting them in a cobalt.

You don't have to reuse the plug from the seat.

We wanted a male/ female plug set for the button panels and found the passenger seat plug would work.

Like briann1177 said you can either hard wire it or buy a generic plug.
