I don’t know the engine side is a problem. That is often a leak at the gauge or cap attachment. Drive it and see if you actually loose coolant. Not sure about the turbo side . Where could that go if you don’t see a visible leak?

System is dry as I had to drain everything snice I was changing hoses. Didn't want to fill up with coolant and find out I have a leak and need to drain everything again. I guess I have no option but to fill up with coolant and see if I can spot a leak.

Leak internal to the intercooler, leaking from the coolant side into the intake side, possibly. A smoke generator could help find it.

Fill with water and then pump it up. Keep track of the water and you can drain out just enough to allow coolant concentrate to get you to the correct level.

im not surprised at all that it’s not holding air. That’s a lot smaller than water. And if you have a leak, you will probably see it drip.

Thats what I was thinking, could be the intercooler. Does a smoke generator produce enough pressure to test the coolant system? I could try it on the turbo side snice its completely dry.

As for the engine side cant do smoke as the radiator still has coolant most likely.

I think filling is probably my only shot to see a leak. Just hoping its not a head gasket leak.

There’s a ton of connections and splices. A small leak here and there is common till you get it all sorted out. Could be as dumb as a loose clamp or leaking connection internally. Coolant and heat seals that or tighten clamps and such. You just never know. Hell, pressure testers can leak too. I know mine doesn’t like to play nice unless I hold it just right. Like a woman. :D

Yes lots of connections and the pressure tester cap is sensitive. I guess have to just risk it and fill her up .

I changed all the hoses to AN lines for that reason. Didn't want to deal with hose clamps so I eliminated as much as possible. Just hate when you have a mystery leak and can't see it.

Well I had to pull the vacuum tester and filled system with distilled water. Took a while for little tear drop to appear. Found 3 tear drops on a tee on the turbo side. Pressure tested for 25 min at 15psi. No drop at all. Moving on to the scary side the engine.

Now this is weird, did the same procedure on the engine side but with coolant. No pressure drop at all. Held 15PSI for 25 min, crazy but I guess ill take it. Let see what happens.

On another note installed a exhaust and made a bracket for the plate.

So finally got everything together and cranked her and started right up. Do have a CEL but didn't look i to yet as a started to notice an oil leak. Looks like its from the valve cover which has new gasket. Its in the corner of the cam position sensor.

Has anyone had issues with gasket not sealing correctly over the half moon? Im guessing its from there as that's where the oil is collecting.

Could be leaking from the cam cap or the valve cover gasket. Did it get a little dab of silicone in those corners where the cap meets the cylinder head when the valve cover was installed? Sometimes the caps can leak if anaerobic sealer wasn’t used.

I personally didn't put no RTV on the valve cover. Should I have used some on those corners? Guessing I need to take everything out and apply RTV. Should I take the cam cap off and put RTV ?

So I took everything apart snice I wouldn't be able to sleep knowing I had a leak. Yes im crazy like that lol.

So I found that the cam cap where installed without anaerobic sealer because I see no residue.

Do you have an OEM service manual? I would typically just follow the service manual steps for this type of stuff. Assuming you used high quality oem style gaskets.

No I dont have the OEM manual, just have the Chilton which kind of sucks. I found a ZZP video showing how to install cams. Thats how I realized that the original owner didn't use anaerobic sealer.
