V1 Desert Sasqwatch #155 Track (mods) - 08 SS/TC crate LNF F40

No, the ones I purchased have the 'standard' inputs for extend and retract (voltage reversal) with the power/current drop off when the end of travel is achieved (they don't over heat). They will hold position in-between full extend/retract if power is interrupted.

I got them off ebay, the seller is no longer valid in the system and I can't pull this up - they did come over on the slow boat from China (took 7 weeks to get here). There are others on ebay for the projector motorcycle headlights in the 4.5 inch diameter size, but they are the entire headlight assemblies and not just the light inserts. They do come in the black and chrome but are running $45-$50 for the pair. Sorry I couldn't find this again. But here's a link to the lights available:
I discovered one of my headlights was burned out, so I followed this link from DS and bought the chrome pair. Only to discover later that the Dominator lights have a standard H4 bulb insert. You can buy an LED version of the H4 bulb as a replacement. Lesson learned.

I have LED H4 bulbs in my Dominator housings and it’s better than stock but desire something brighter. Especially on high beam.

Did you purchase the ones on the left (standard lens) or the ones on the right (projection lens)?

The projector lens on the right makes a huge difference in the beam pattern and the amount of light on the road where its needed versus being scattered off to the sides. These are also cheap enough that different bulbs can be tried to find the best combination.

It was further up in my build log.
Note: the link is for the entire headlight assembly. The headlight insert should fit into the 'standard' dominator headlight bucket for a better match to bolt into the mounts on the frame. The paired motorcycle buckets may not work as well.

The bulbs in paired motorcycle buckets were the standard lens, and fit right into the Dominator buckets. I got that far when i discovered I could just replace the H4 insert instead. The chrome paired buckets had LED inserts, so I just swapped them out.

Been a while since I last updated, been too hot to get much work accomplished in the morning before the garage gets to 95 degrees and I overheat. But I have a few things to show progress for. :)

Been getting the dash further along with the Cobalt gauge panel, steering column, and speaker holes cut out. I also added an old school sunvisor above the gauge panel to provide some shade so it can be read when the sun is trying to shine on it.

Have more gauges (2 1/8 inch) to layout and get cut out. So yes, my dash is getting 'speedholes' in a manner of speaking. :p

I've also been working on the hood to get the hood hinge mounting plates permanently installed and riveted/bonded to the underside.

The hood back end corner cutouts from DF do not matchup very well with the A-pillar gussets I have welded in.

So some recontouring of these back corners is underway with fiberglass fill-in and new cutouts to match my modded frame.

It all takes time and has been slow going with the hot weather and only getting into the garage on weekends. When it finally cools off I will get much more accomplished. :D

Almost looks like my hood was made this way. ;)

Got the overall contour cut, just need to notch to go around the A-pillars and get the finish skim coat on it for final sanding.

Another hot weekend - 93 degrees in my garage at 8:00 in the morning - so progress will be slow again.

I appreciate your proposal, but I don't have the equipment to bend 1.5 inch tube (minimum recommended size tube for a cage). I wish I did.:D My bender is only capable up to 1 inch tube.

Give DF some time to get back to you - make sure you call them (I know you have been) - they will make the tubes that will fit correctly. You can also request a center bar(s) too, kinda like this:

Make sure @Lonny knows this is an add on cage, it should include sleeve tubes that must be installed at the A-pillar to make this connection strong enough (butt welding tubes together won't be).

???stretched my cockpit??? Not certain what you mean? My chassis (#155) was ordered with the extended track frame - the longer frame was an option back then. Starting somewhere in the #400s chassis numbers the extended frame became standard and the shorter frame was no longer made. I've done a lot of things to my frame, but making it longer was not one of them - sorry to disappoint.

Keep in mind that back in the 'old days' - frames less than #200 - @Lonny and @Adam had more time to answer the phone and spend time with customers. Since growing larger, with chassis numbers upward of #550 now, they are both busier than ever. Also know that the kit car business is a sideline for DF, their main business is making parts for the aerospace industry. So yes, they are always very busy.

Getting my Goblin ready for its first car show. Yes, project cars are invited to this show - with a Project category - and it's time to start showing off some of my hard work. :p

This show is at work and there are several people curious about what I spend my time and money (when the boss allows it into the budget) on. Maybe I will get someone interested in building their own Goblin?!?
