V1 Mikes Extended, Full Frame Goblin - 2009 Cobalt LS with 135k donor

I couldn't find anything in the search, but that doesn't mean its not already somewhere.

Has anyone rewired the instrument lights to not get dimmed when the light goes on? I have the problem, that when I switch on the light, the instrument cluster gets dimmed. With Sunglasses and sun in the cockpit, I can not read the Display anymore. I wanted to see if I can just rewire the instrument light cable to avoid this.

In the original DF videos, Lonny removed the light sensor, so it wouldn't dim anymore... but the stock dash lights aren't very bright. Chad (ctuinistra) did an LED conversion to his dash lights, and that is a lot brighter.

Hmm, I have the ambient light sensor still in may harness and the dash dimmer circuit connected.

I wonder how this all works. When I switch the ignition on, the lights and running lights go on when its set to auto. The dash background light is on and the little display is dimmed.
It doesn't change if the dash dimmer circuit is connected or not.

If I switch the lights off, headlights, running lights and dash background lights go off. I see a message "Auto Lights Off". The display is now brighter. It doesn't change if the dash dimmer circuit is connected or not.

In both cases above the light is not going on or off with the ambient light sensor.

However, If I switch ignition on and switch from lights auto to lights off, then cover the ambient light sensor and switch it back to auto it says in the Display "Hold Lights ON".

So the ambient light sensor does something. I wonder if there is a way to program the Auto light function. Google brought up some posts, but nothing which really pointed me in the right direction. Anyone an idea?

The manual says the parking brake should be released. I have not connected a switch to that line, but it seems that this is correct. The line is pulled to ground if the parking brake is engaged.

Maybe just unplug it and see if it makes any difference? Unplugged it will likely either leave the headlights on all the time or disable the Automatic position on the headlight switch.

I just tried that, but it did not make any difference.

I read in the manual that if the sensor is covered, the light will stay on. Seems to be normal. I just don't know why it always has the headlights on.

Installed some Aliexpress lights. Turned out to be better than expected. Just the turn signal frequency is a bit to fast.

That start up feature is pretty cool, do they have brake lights as well?

Not sure, this are the one I bought. Maybe they have brake lights as well, but wasn't looking for them.

Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out!

My muffler didn't have a pipe inside it, but did have 3 baffles inside the container. One big one shaped like <, and two smaller ones shaped like a / and a \. I have removed the 2 smaller ones, and only have the large one left inside.

Yes, kind of. That one has a couple of walls with 3" holes in them... the DF supplied muffler was mostly open air from what I remember.

Minimal back pressure - and noise reduction - with a chambered 'turbo' muffler. Uses sound pressure standing waves in the chamber(s) to cancel sound, but most only work at 2 or 3 different frequencies and can accentuate the sound at other frequencies.

I was thinking of getting the flowmaster from the first picture I posted. I think they are the have less back pressure.
