Just sent the last form this past weekend. There was a problem with the bill of sale because the notary I went to wrote her name where my name was supposed to go. Got it fixed and sent. They said all of my other paperwork looks good. I’m hoping to hear back from them by the end of this week.
by the way, I asked about timing for providing proof of insurance and they told me that they don’t need proof of insurance to register there. Thought that was good to know.

Today I got the email from Montana with a scan of my Montana Registration and title! So it looks like all my paperwork went through. Hoping I'll have the physical papers and plates in hand soon.

Is Montana still doing registration and payments through text message? That’s what I had to do to register my wife’s car and the camper I bought this year. It was a crazy deal.

Someone wrote a step by step Montana registration guide on the forum.

I was in the car biz for 10 years and another member Bruce has a Montana dealers license. I’ve registered motorcycles I built from scratch no problem. If you’re going the MT registration route and run into any problems hit one of us up. We’ll get you fixed up.

Yep, I saw O-Prime's guide. I fully intend to follow it to the T. Main concern right now is how the MCO should be done ... sounds like it being made out to you personally, then you having a notary transfer it to your Montana LLC, is the way it's going now.

I did my Montana reg through a service. I didn't do any payments through text message.

For those doing the Montana Registration, I will try to map out how I did mine. I did reference OptimizePrime’s guide for what I did. Here is a link to his thread:

• I chose a service for Montana Reg. I used 49dollarmontana for this. Through there registration I chose an LLC name and set that up.
• Called up DF Goblin to get my MCO for my kit. I did get my MCO in my personal name.
• Montana Bill of Sale: I had to do this to transfer the car from my name to the LLC. This is a simple form, but you do need to get it notarized. This wasn’t a big deal, I just took it to my bank and they notarized it for free.
• VIN inspection: This was the most stressful part of the process. I was over prepared for this because my impression is that it all depends on the officer you get. Luckily the officer I dealt with was pretty easy going. I did have to guide him a little to make sure I had all of info I needed.
  • Make sure he records your odometer on the form. (this is in place of an odometer disclosure statement.)
  • Make sure you get a business card from the inspection officer.
• Bring an extra copy of the form in case there are any mistakes.
• Inspection checklist: you do this yourself. Pretty easy form.
• Application for Certificate of Title: They didn’t ask for this, but I fill one out and sent to them anyway. This was suggested on the guide I referenced above.

Good call on the Application for Certificate of Title. The state of MT will absolutely not process your title without that signed MV1 form.

Yes, you are correct.
You can also use the cobalt vin as a secondary identifier locating it on the engine. I don’t know if this is required, but I did do this.

Do you mind me asking where that is on the engine, exactly? I've seen two places named out there on the interwebs, but I've yet to actually find the engine VIN myself. Btw, thanks for all the information, you're REALLY helping me out!

I’m back!
Yesterday I finally took the goblin out from its winter storage. Then two hours later it started snowing! Ha. Ready for some warmer weather.
But now I have it back in the garage and ready for finishing. I just have a few little things to do.

One of the next things to do is the windscreen. Any tips for installation? Will I need to bend the mounting bracket a little or does it usually fit straight on? Plexi mounts on the inside of the bracket right?

Excited to get it finished soon.

I was mistaken, what I thought was bag M14C was actually the inventory code for the seat mount brackets themselves. I asked Adam about it and he said that the nuts and bolts usually come packaged with the seat-belt harness. He wasn't sure why corbeau only sent bolts. He sent me the correct nuts to use.
I did end up having to cut the bolts a little to fit better.

If anyone else runs into this, I also only received the bolts from Corbeau. All I was able to find was some standard strength 7/16-20 nuts and will run those until I can get 8.8 replacements from DF, although I'll probably just wait because there's not much need until I'm street legal and driving regularly.

Courbeau doesn’t ship nuts with their harnesses. I took a bolt to Fastenal and got a small bag of them.

Perhaps I misinterpreted our conversation but DF gave me the impression that Corbeau *used* to, they said they've seen both the 7/16-20 (which is what I got) and M11 hardware with the harnesses. They're aware and I believe they're trying to figure out whether to take it up with Corbeau or just supply the nuts themselves.

It's been a while since I checked on it so my info is probably out of date. When I got my seats in 2018, they didn't come with in nuts. I remember inquiring about them and was instructed to source locally. I thought it was a forum post but I can't find it now.
