Is there a reason you cut so much of it off? I have seen a few builders do that but never understood why.

Overall, it just doesn’t fit right. It’s my understanding it was made for the A/T model, but some have adapted it to the regular one. So instead of trimming out every little part that’s in the way, just cut the whole thing short and go from there. It’s just to block engine heat anyways, not really needed to go all the way up to the cab.

Makes sense! I have given up on trying to make it fit perfect, i will probably follow this and chop her down.

Finally put the hood back on and the pipe insulation will work fine. I need to snip the ends off, but this should really divert heat pretty good I would think. I’ll know tomorrow on my test drive.

But you are slowly rounding the front edge using your splitter as a shovel. Almost cannot get away from that and keep your ride height low.

I drove out to Talon’s to pick up my exhaust and for him to scan the goblin for a possible new accessory (Patent pending). 100* outside, 30 mile drive mostly freeway. Before, I would have to hold my arms above the hood to keep somewhat cool And my legs would just fry. The under hood heat was just hell. Now, with the foot well cover on, I’m keeping my arms under the hood because it’s cooler than over the hood. I‘d say the foot well cover works

Exactly. Think of it as a reason to pull the hood and replace the horn. Knock them both out at the same time.

I already replaced the horn, but I do keep tripping over my footwell cover that's just lying around in the corner of the garage. lol

I just got my pool noodle clamped down, do you have plans to seal or have measured the gap on the sides? Maybe a double layer of pool noodle/pipe insulation can fill that gap and seal even better?

If you are talking about here, I no longer have a plan for it. I punched a hole in it so when I zip tied the cover down, it would suck down those sides. Well, they just ripped though so I left it. I figured if they flapped around I’d cut them off and go to plan B. Driving down the freeway, they never moved so I’m going to cut them off when I get a chance.

If you cut it about half ways, so it bends down easier, you could attack another piece of noodle to it and it should touch the hood. If you do the side skirts it would probably make a difference. Maybe some others have input, that have sides.

Yep, that’s the spot. I saw @Joebob made a homemade “footwell cover” but had plexi on the sides to keep heat from going around. Was just thinking about ways to utilize all of my $1.34 noodle! I will have the side panels installed.

Then again, I haven’t even driven the thing so I don’t know how uncomfortable I will be with the heat.

Joebob was the one I was thinking of. He has his pretty sorted out in the comfort department.

You have probably only use $.49 worth. stash it and we will find more uses for it.

Awesome news. I will try the same. Just wondering, what was your coolant temperature when you drove?

I tested with and without the foot cover. I like the increases air flow with the foot cover, but i can tell the difference when the thermostat opens it just get a lot hot air flow I ended up installing the foot cover again. Will test your set up next.
