V1 The wife’s Goblin, 2007 L61 F23

A
Well we’re 100% road legal with insurance and all this morning so we went to lunch. Hopefully if the weather is decent enough we’re going to the wrap shop to pick out what she wants on it, I’m trying to talk her into a glossy carbon fiber but I think she wants some kind of custom wrap.
Excellent news!

The wife requested that I install the engine cover and the rear wing before we go to see the wrap consultant. I didn’t really want to but I did knowing it’ll have to come back off later. I’ll put the critter splitter on after it gets wrapped. I picked up Emmett from school since my daughter is out of town for a cross country meet and holy cow the kids love it. I also installed the luggage rack for the wife and aimed the headlights.

When the lift is tied up with an LS cam job and the wife says we have to go to wrap shopping, you get out the jack stands and replace the starter. I guess we can’t complain cause it’s the original starter and had 190,000 miles on it. Car had been cranking slow after it was up to operating temperature and only cranked a little slow when cold.

Well it’s fer a good cause! You could buy and install another lift, but that would just be silly!

On a related note, about 09, the wife and I did a few days on the Nachez Trace in our motorhome towing our MR2, may have done the whole thing? I know we went as far as Tupelo, MS. Had fun! Tons of history.

I’ve been from just south of Nashville to Lawrenceburg in the rain by myself and enjoyed it. I do need a second lift though cause I work here full time.

You've done the best parts of what I have seen of the Natchez Trace. From Lawrenceburg south it gets flatter and straighter. I haven't been but a few hours south but that was enough. I don't see it getting better the further south into Mississippi.

Getting the starter out in the vehicle is a easy but also difficult job. That back bolt was difficult to get to, could only turn the wrench 1/4 a turn and was super long. I think it took me 2-3 hours and 90% of that was getting to back bolt out and in.

That tool wouldn't have helped. It would have needed to been a flexible extension. The area was just too tight to get a socket and ratchet on it or a ratchet-wrench. It wasn't hard to do, just difficult to get to and slow going. It's possible removing the blower would have helped which is super easy to do. I didn't know it came out easily at the time...

I used a long extension and a 15mm deep wobble and came out without any issues. The supercharged is a lot tighter I believe but I’m not for certain but we’ll find out when I get finished building the second engine.

I painted the underside of my hood after the wrap went on. Used an enamel paint that took a long time to dry. I really wish I had done it before the wrap since i ended up with a couple drips on the expensive wrap. Many curse words were said that day.

Anyone who has gone further than just bolting together the kit knows that we all make mistakes, it's just going to happen. Look at these as the 'beauty marks' that set your car apart from all the others and is a testament to your Goblin being built and not bought.

Just me, but add a splitter to the front and that nose 'blemish' would practically disappear! ;):D

I definitely want to do something like this but figured I’d get around to it eventually this winter

The wife drove her Goblin to work again last night and remembered to get some pictures. These are from the top of the parking garage where she works.
