V1 Rttoys’s track- ‘06 ss/sc #184

I kinda had the same plan. Local kid had an 06 SS and had another engine and trans he wanted to build but decided to sell the car. I got the engine, trans, and supposedly a sc pulley puller for a reasonable price.

Mostly heart transplant without downtime, then to stash some extra parts that are unobtainium and parts for others that need them.

Or you can start a pallet donor business where you strip the cobalt and dispose of the shell and ship out the needed parts to future Goblin builders to skip that part. ;)

The front splitter has changed a bit. Had a buddy cut one out of 1/8” aluminum, but add sides bent up to 90* and bent the rear to 20*. This worked even better than just the flat alumilite, but flexed a little. Not enough for concern, but my buddy wanted to make one out of 1/4” aluminum, so I let him. We did tweak prototype #3 by cutting it out of 1/4” aluminum, kicking the back bend up to 45* and eliminated the cutout for the intercooler. I’m changing the ic layout, so that cutout is not needed for me. This really seem to plant the front end. Driving around 50 you can see a solid heat line on the tires, then kick it up to 70ish and see the line move outward. I’m considering this done on my end.

I had to do some digging, but here it is. Got it off Amazon. There’s plenty so if you mess up, you can start over. Good thick plastic. I ended up drilling small holes in the fiberglass and attaching with zip ties. since it’s all basically black there (on mine), the zip ties hide easily and makes it easy if I ever need to take it off for whatever reason.

Could you reverse the hood scoop and leave the fan a puller and let airflow push up through the ic

Rttoys
i don’t see why not, but I never experiment with it that way. The way I have it was the way SACTX did his. It worked fine and we ran with it. If you over temp intake temps, a quick reversal of the scoop and a new fan is all it takes.

On the street, it shouldn’t really matter anyways. it’s doubtful intake temps will get high. On the track, is where it all counts.

Re reading.
Do you mean putting the scoop in the back position or front? I put mine in the back position and used a pusher fan. I guess you could still use puller. Or forward position and use a puller.

hell do some testing with it. Switch things around and monitor intake temps. On the street they should be fine pretty much no matter what. On the track or something like autocross, is where airflow will be much more important.

Facing it towards so the air pushes in and up still using the puller fan

You can try it. Technically with the splitter, you are creating a low pressure under the car, which is what makes it suck down to the road, so you are not going to get much ram air into the scoop to feed the intercooler. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work just fine though. Again, it kind of depends on what you are going to use the car for.

Getting some loose ends tied up on the goblin. It’s a hot drive now, so I finally cut the footwell cover to divert heat. I notched where need be and will be adding foam here and there to “seal” up the cab a little.

I've got blue pool noodles standing by so I can do mine this afternoon.
