Sneak Peek - Goblin V2

I'll defend this, as ridiculous as it seems. As an owner of a pacifica minivan, that pentastar is a ripper. 285hp, and it all comes online at 4000rpm. It's not the motor I would have selected for a minivan. It really behaves more like a sportscar engine.

Transmission availability is a problem though. There are no transverse 6 speeds that i'm aware of. The only FWD option is the 9 speed ZF.

As for the goblin V2, I love the bodywork and idea of an updated suspension. But the donor, I don't quite get. Less available, more expensive, less aftermarket, less hp....what are the advantages?
I currently own a 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan with 3.6 Pentastar and 6 speed auto. My experience with it led me to state what I did above.

Interesting choice. If I may ask, is the fully-assembled shipment intended to cut down on need to support builders?
We actually enjoy talking to our customers. But if not for the forum and you guys we couldn't keep up.

With speaking to so many builders we have a good idea of the bottle necks most customers face when building a kit car. And we would like for every Goblin kit sold to be completed and enjoyed.

So we feel by doing some factory preassembly we can remove some technically related frustrations and allow our customers to move onto the more enjoyable portions of the build.

We are just kick starting the project there is still plenty of work to do.

Ok so I still have not ordered my stage two yet.
I’ve run into financial issues and out it on the back burner while I work on other finances.
I know you said all of 2024 and plenty of parts later, but will there be a cut off time for me to make sure I still get my stage two?

Thanks for the response. I meant no ill with the question; I think we've all seen first-hand how challenging aspects of the build can be, for people that aren't prepared for it (me included).

We will do our best to ensure everybody gets enough parts to finish their Goblins. If we decide to have a cut-off date, we will do our best to inform everyone in plenty of time.

Thank you Lonny, that takes a bit of stress off of me trying figure out my budget and not missing out on parts to complete my car.

Will the V2 windshield be retrofittable to the V1 chassis?
Different chassis, different body work, completely different dimensions and angles. The likely hood of the v2 windshield bolting up to the OG Goblin is basically none.

Now, its a kit car you build, you can make just about anything work with a little fabrication.

Santa didn't come through smh. I was wishing for anything AWD or something I could toss a K-series into. I wonder why the VW?

World platform. It's available everywhere. Imagine, Goblins in Australia, England, Spain, heck even former Warsaw pack countries.

@ Jason D and all others, The V2 should be a well improved platform over the V1 - as well it should be. A new slightly roomier chassis, an upgraded and other car brand proven front suspension design (plus you get it factory set). New engine option (although, once again not to everyone's taste evidently). Newly designed more aerodynamic body. And sold as a rolling chassis versus a full kit build. Other manufactures have proven this a successful marketing outcome.

The same discussions about other engine options were voiced with the V1 kit. 2021 it was brought up in other builds forum and this is an excerpt from that time.

" Consider I live in Europe. I'm going to want to use an engine and donor of the hot hatch crowd. VW GTI, Ford Focus RS, Audi TT Turbo, maybe a Renault, Fiat, Alfa sourced, or gosh a GM Opal, Mini Cooper. These will all need a different chassis mounting design. Consider I live in Japan or Australia. I'm going to use a Honda Civic SI, Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Hyundai, Mazda what else is there. These cars also sell in Africa and Mexico markets".

As @ Brett eluded to the VW platform is more Global Market in scale. In the USA we have all those above mentioned engine choices at our offering, so as a builder if you want something different, then break out your drawing skills, fabricate something up (proven on V1 that it is possible), and get it done. You know what you are starting with and only you know what you want to do with your build.

So, in the finale there is a choice for you as the builder. Buy the foundation and build on it, or simply start from scratch and do it. Which is easiest for your skill sets will probably determine your route. There's the road so begin the journey, when you come to a fork decide which way to go forward. There will be chicanes and bumps but they are small.

Enjoy your journey and take someone along!! The Goblin family is waiting for you to join them. Have great fun!!
