Time for a status update and a few pics.
The car is essentially built. The punchlist is pretty short....wire up the mirror turn signals, wire the tail lights and 3rd brake light, and wire up the dash buttons. Do a basic alignment. And finally, tune, tune, and tune some more. The car at least moves under it's own power, although I haven't driven it yet (just scooted it around in the garage). The hood and side panels need paint and mounting, but that will happen after the inspection.
The Highway patrol inspection is scheduled for august 17th, next week. They assured me on the phone it was not a safety inspection, they were just checking for stolen parts. I'm not sure exactly how they will do that, as the engine and trans only have serial numbers, not VINs (at least not that I can find). Maybe they have a database of serial numbers too? I'm not sure how that works.
For a few specifics....
the headlights are these:

They are super tiny, and super bright. I'm impressed with them, although we will see how bright they are on the road. High and low beam functions, and they have an actual beam pattern, which is nice for a cheap headlight. The low beams are actually lower than the high beams. YOu know, like a real headlight!
The seats are ebay specials, and they are exactly what I wanted.

They are super comfortable, and very supportive. No, they are not as supportive as the factory corbeaus, but they also aren't as restrictive. Plenty of room to get your knees apart. They feel great, I doubt I'll slide out of them, and they fit the car perfectly. The sliders they came with are the cheapest things possible, but they do work.
Seat base were also ebay specials:

They are flimsy, but they fit the seats and the goblin. It took some 3/4" thick spacers in the rear, and some longer carriage bolts through the frame to mount them, but they work fine. I figured flimsy was ok, since they are mashed against the floor, and any crash loads will be taken by the cage and the belts.
Hopefully I can take it for a quick shakedown run to see what breaks before making the trek to the highway patrol station.
