V1 Coilover Options

Bought the kit from BCRacing-na.com, they are the distributor (don't go to BCRacing.com, the manufacture). There is list of items you buy from them individually to make up a custom set needed for the goblin. Each item is order individually so if you don't want the dust boots, you don't have to order them, the same goes for the bump stop and the spanner set. Even though the website stated the plastic coil spring seats come with the lock ring, they don't! I showed them their website said and showed they do, so they threw them in for me.

There are a few custom items you will need from DF to complete the setup. Sorry I don't have those items numbers with me, contact Adam and he can help you with them. You will also need the springs and spring caps either from BC Racing or QA1 for your setup. You will need to determine the spring rate setup. DF suggested using the 300# from the front and installing them in the rear and using 400# in the front. That's what Lonny's car had, and that is what I'm going with.

The items ordered are:

***EDITED*** 02-08-2019

Here is the initial adjustment I have for our ride height of around 7" to the bottom of the subframe. Yours will vary, but this will at least get you a good starting point.

How do you adjust the over all length. The 313mm measurement on your picture

If I am using the BC Racing coil overs in the rear, I am not using the P22N adapters correct?
Am I using the JDAF spacers instead?

Other than the ability to choose one's spring rates, how does this setup differ from what DF is offering?

So is it just price? Are all other parts equal save springs between DFs coilovers and the parts list provided?

A lot of the original links are dead so it's worth an extra 50 bucks or so not to have to chase them down and risk ordering the wrong parts.

correct, and with the current price of the parts individually it is probably easier to just go through DF and get everything at once.

BP Racing changed their website and broke the links in my post. I did my best to update all of the links correct. I could no longer find the plastic spring seat isolator anywhere on their website. There is a rubber version that may work fine.

I hope this still continues to help.

Without creating a new thread, does anyone know off hand the stroke length of the damper used in the rear suspension? I can't find any information online. It looks like based on the part number, the rod length (not including the threaded section) is 130mm but I can't confirm if this is the full stroke length or if there is an internal bump stop of sorts...? Thanks!

This post talks about replacing the core of the goblin's BC Racing rear coilover.
When I ordered it, they had to look up DF Kit Car's order, as this may be a custom order of their parts.

Thanks Ross. I did find the replacement part number and a video on Youtube explaining the part number. I was trying to determine the useable stroke on the damper so I can setup my suspension properly.

280 is the body length, 130 is shaft length without threaded section, MF1 is valving design (McPherson), 20 is shaft thickness, and M12 is thread measurement.

I'll reach out to BC and see if they can clarify.

Off the top of my head I believe it's around ~5.5"... but I could be wrong. I'm running Koni dampers, but I'm assuming it's all the same. I ended up using the front springs that DF supplies (QA1 9HT300) on the rear because I needed the extra travel of a 9" spring. I remember the usable deflection of the 9" spring was roughly equal to the stroke of the damper, but adding a bump stop made it about perfect, and I think usable deflection of that spring is 5.5-6".

Pull the springs and cycle the suspension?

This would've been my last resort but, thankfully, BC Racing got back to me quickly. Just to update this is the information they've provided:

Hello,

These have a very thin 10mm internal stop. The useable stoke length of this damper would be around 120mm. However, with the external bump stop, it would be around 100mm.

Regards,

Davey P

Given that we don't use the bump stops as used on the Cobalt configuration, it looks like there is 120mm of useable stroke.
