V1 Desert Sasqwatch #155 Track (mods) - 08 SS/TC crate LNF F40

Not really. I have to fold up regardless to get in or out - but I have been practicing so I only look half-stupid getting in and out. The clown car gag at the circus comes to mind, the one where the impossibility large clown gets out of the really tiny car.;)

Just search for Lou Jacob's Clown and that is almost exactly what everyone sees!

So I redid the filler plates on the b-pillar, didn't like the first set I had welded in a while back. These are not really structural, but provide an enclosed space to install some overhead speakers at some point. Will likely grind off the welds flush and fill the seams, but they do have a 'ratrod' look to them I kinda like.
Rat Rod-esque? What would your hero Colin Chapman say?? All those years striving for main stream acceptability dashed by a moment of frivolity? Let’s be serious here! Or maybe not? I blame that heady elixir, that volatile combo of function and freedom in pursuit of speed, handling and thrill satiation! Man wasn’t meant to fly, but, by GOD it seems his brain was! Thanks GOD!

A few Goblins are like ratrods, since builders will take a basic - as delivered - car and tweak, modify, fabricate, alter and add-on parts from other vehicles and (sometimes questionable) purchases to come up with something unique. Granted, our kits don't start in the junkyard, but readily accept whatever functional and crazy ideas we can come up with to make each one our own.

Welded steel tabs around the halo, button head screws on acorn nuts. This mounting system can also be used if I decide to use an acrylic top too if/when I decide to let the sunshine in. ;)
That’s what I did using polycarbonate for the roof. I ended up just going with black polycarbonate that I’m working on painting and will have an American flag decal on it.

The biggest delay since the middle of summer has been funds. Left my previous job due some issues I didn't want any part of, so I've been looking (casually) for another job - problem is I so specialized that these jobs don't come around very often. There's hope on the horizon since the space satellite job market has posted a couple jobs in January, I'm hoping to be reemployed in the not too distant future.

But with that said, I'm working on things I have parts and materials for currently. Making some headway, but I'm also still digging into the rear suspension engineering - the more I dig, the more I need to consider in the design. Hopefully I can get into the meat of this sooner than later, get parts and materials ordered, get some parts machined and fabricated (there are things I just cannot do in my garage), and get to the final square for mocking everything up.
Big change - my employment situation has been resolved and funds will be available again so I can make better progress on my build. But (there is always a but) I will now have less time to work on it - you either have time and no money or money and no time. I'm back in space - my job, not me - and will be working mission assurance to ensure programs run correctly to achieve completion per contract. Gonna be a challenge.

Got the tabs welded in to mount the roof panel.

Also removed the original shifter mount plate from the tunnel cover to install a different plate to accept another style of shifter. Need to determine the optimum fore/aft location before it will get welded in.

Plan to add lateral brackets for more support for the shifter - and it will need some speedholes too!

Been a while since my last update. I'm back with the working world again, another aerospace engineering job working on space launch vehicles. Yes, it is rocket science. ;)

Build progress wise, I'm waiting on a response from a company to get the driver's side axle shortened and resplined for the F40. Hopefully will hear something this coming week.

Also trying to contact B3 Design in Omaha about purchasing a F40 LSD installation kit - they are on Facespace and I'm not - no email response yet. I'm trying to locate a phone number, no luck yet, but did get in touch with B3 DesignS in Omaha that is an interior designer. (Face palm)

Tinkering this morning, I fabbed up the final design for my wing mounts (yeah, they do have speedholes). They are just a wee bit shorter than most everyone else's (except @Ross).

The flat roof panel will help with the efficiency of the wing, getting clean and slightly compressed airflow directed across the bottom of the wing. I'll be employing an aero trick on the wing to increase downforce (bet some of you already know what it will be). I also plan on doing something a little different with this wing that will help with handling, stay tuned. :D

(wanted to post something that doesn't have anything to do with wiring and increase @Gtstorey frustration level! :p)

More new toys...can never have enough. ;)

OBD2 tachometer 0-9000 RPM, will fit perfectly directly above the steering column (along with the other 2 most important gauges - oil pressure and boost).

Also decided the cheap (really cheap) ebay seats already have gotta go - they are coming apart and I don't even have them installed yet! Replaced with 18 inch Jegs aluminum with their padded cover - nice tweed fabric. Fits my Squatch butt snugly, a little tight in the midsection, but some judicious tweaking will make some more room.
