No, it's part of the advertising clause in the contract signed when purchasing a Goblin. It's at the bottom, in very small font (0.2 pico?), says once you've surpass being a Goblin Guru there must be clear and bold name recognition on your car to avoid confusion with it being called a dune buggy or sand rail. This is the 'Russell's Clause' to avoid excessive blood pressure spikes whenever someone starts up a conversation about it needing more ground clearance to go offroad. :p:D

Life has been getting in the way and occupying too much of my time lately. Work on my Goblin has been slow and sidetracked quite often, but I have made some progress on the fiberglass sidepods for the dual intercooler heat exchangers. I made a rough form for a position check.

I then fabbed up foam forms in the shape I'm looking for.

These are overlaid with fiberglass, epoxy resin glass for the first 2 layers (so the foam won't melt) and I added a 1/2 round foam edge at the front of the pod to make a rolled lip to mirror the nose radiator opening.

These forms will finally get about 4 layers of poly resin glass for strength. Internal baffles and screening to help keep stones out of the pod will be added. The fabricated pods are made oversized from their eventual final cut down size to make sure they fit into their final location. Of note, my F40 frame is slightly different driver's side to passenger's side so the pods will not be identically mirrored. More to come on the progress of these.

Time for an update. My garage time has been very limited by work, family issues, and life pulling me off in every direction for quite a while. My progress on my Goblin (and home projects) has been suffering and the several modifications/fabrications that I started before Christmas are not yet completed - and is holding up starting on some other pending Goblin modifications. It's not your fault Dale. :)

Anyway, the heat exchanger side pods are now shells with 5 layers of 2oz and 4oz fiberglass - for now. The foam has been removed, forgot how much fun it is to create an amoeba out of foam and acetone. What a volatile mess that was. I fitted the pod shells to fit snuggly onto the heat exchangers, angled to drive all incoming airflow toward the sideways mounted HEs.

Next is to fabricate internal baffles that will be bonded/fiberglassed inside the pods. A forward baffle will create a flange to hold the rock grills in place (similar to what I did inside the nose for the radiator rock grill). Internal baffles will direct all incoming airflow into the heat exchanger cores to eliminate wasted airflow going around the HEs.

All of the air exiting the heat exchangers will dump into the air space in front of the engine/transmission - which is a lower air pressure area - to help draw airflow through the HEs.

The spacing between the heat exchangers/side pods and the location of the rear tire is a concern. I did some preliminary measurements and found the spacing is far tighter than I would like.

The stock LNF axle length, and the current design for my custom UCA/LCA rear suspension, will need to be revised. The tire will have to be located 1.5 to 2 inches further outboard than I planned. But this is not a bad thing. It will eliminate the narrow 'old man butt' with the rear track now being wider than the front (forum common complaint) and my UCA/LCAs will be lengthened - they were too narrow in my original design.

The splitter now has support braces to the front corners. They look good (adds at least 3 HP and 5 MPH :p), but more importantly to help keep the splitter from folding under if someone decides to step on it.

Additional front end downforce enhancements are also in the works - thanks Shaun (@talon2006). More to come on this.

Wow
November until now for an update but you have made some progress. I think the two of us are in a tight race for slowest builds lol. I’ll hopefully get back to my project soon. Wife found my parts cabinets in my shop and gave me those disappointed eyes.
Decided I better purge all my treasures I no longer needed. Hence all the classified postings. Looking good DS!

Love this design. I would like to do similar.

I'm interested if it never sold. Please text me at 402-706-4691 so we can talk. P>S> I really like all the things you've posted before about a Goblin v.1 lower control arm and upper control arm and would like to discuss this. I know how you can easily make an upper control arm using the Cobalt sindle and am planning to do so. Sebnuts and Ross if you like to discuss this text me also so we can talk.
