Has anyone ever replaced the Lock Cylinder Housing? I’m being locked out again with the VATS and I might have a bad pass lock sensor??. Went to auto parts store and they could not find the part. Attached is a pic. Car is parked which is killing me

Are you having a key turning problem or vats not working properly? Vats can be turned off via ho turners I believe. If you are having a key/lock cylinder problem, there’s other options.

I can look, but doubtful the hole assembly is even available anywhere. Maybe a used one on eBay or junk yard, then you’ll have to relearn vats and such.

I just got my computer back from ZZP and they verified the vats was disabled and they even disabled all the codes relating to vats as they could and that didn’t change anything. I also replaced the ignition switch and got a new key cut and programmed and did not fix it

This is what I’ve been going through and what I’ve done. Last year suddenly started to lose my gauges briefly while driving(low fuel and power steering would appear in the display). I would not lose power. So per the forum I moved out the gauge cluster with longer bolts and it fixed it immediately and then it started back roughly 3 months ago. Every time I lose my gauges is because the antitheft icon appears. I didn’t key relearn, unplugged the battery to reset the computer and that worked immediately for about 4 drives and then came back. I removed all my keys on my key chain and that also worked immediately for 6 drives and it suddenly came back. I took it out the other day and what happens is the gauges will go off and then the antitheft symbol will disappear and I get the gauges again. This goes back and fourth through out my drive. This will also happen when I go to start the car. Symbol will be on and engine is locked and then I’ll try to start it a couple times and suddenly it goes away and I can start the car. I love my Goblin , but I’m not sure what else to do

Your Goblin has gremlins. Are any OBD codes being set? This is electrical and sounds like it most likely is the LAN wiring from the description of your sequence of events. Loose connector pin or broken wire, but still making some contact. Fire your Goblin up and gently wiggle small sections of the wire harness to see if it makes the problem come and go.

I’ve had the codes checked several times and nothing comes up. I’ve also wiggled all the wires in front and around the front(hood was off) and I didn’t get any change. I checked the three grounds in front and they are all good. What is really frustrating is that three different times I thought it was fixed and all three times it eventually came back

There is a "drag test" that can be done to connector pins, to determine if they are the correct size, or if they are worn out. It requires a pin gauge set of various sizes, and you check each pin to see if any of them are oversize.
I also fought LAN data issues. Once I identified that the data connector on my power steering unit failed the wiggle test, I replaced it with one from the scrap yard, and the problem was finally fixed. Here is the LAN wiring for my 2006 LSJ. Your signature doesn't mention what your donor car was, so you might want to follow my signature link, and update that.

Here is an example pin test kit. I haven't used the drag test, but have seen it used by other mechanics. I was able to find my electrical issue with the wiggle test, and just replaced the whole connector.

When I started the car, the Anti theft symbol did not go on, so I was able to start it. I wiggled all the wires and connectors and nothing until I wiggled the gauge cluster connector and the symbol came on. It could just be doing what it usually does or that connector could be going bad. Can I purchase that at a local auto parts store?

My local auto recycler yard will let me cut a connector off of most Cobalts... they have a few cars in a special area that they want to keep the harness original. I usually get the connector plus an extra 6 or 8 inches of harness, as I just solder and shrink wrap the wires, rather than dealing with the pin connectors. The auto parts store might be able to get you a connector, but then you are dealing with pin connections, so I prefer the used parts.

Ya. Sounds like you have it narrowed down to the cluster. Definitely splice in a new connector and drag tests work well too. After that I would investigate the cluster. There could easily be a loose or cracked circuit board/connection.

Guys,
Friend came by to lend some help on my electrical gremlins. Ended up reseating the BCM and it turned off the antilock symbol, so the car would start. I took it out for drive and never lost the gauges. My guess is this is just temporary and the issue will reappear. Would you say that i have a BCM issue?
