Are you trying to get the steering shaft to extend and retract? If so many builders, including me, have had to buy new ones because it just won't budge at all and the length is different when it's inside the frame.

No my steering shaft won’t come off the steering rack.
My entire sub frame is literally hanging on only by the steering shaft. The bolt was completely removed with no issue. Today we took a pry bar and pryed open pinch clamp. Still no dice. It’s rusted solid. Its even been doused in penetrant multiple times.

Oh ok, thats unfortunate. My only other suggestion would be heat and a lot of it, but I'm sure you have already tried that.

Don’t have a torch but do have a saws all and a good blade. Plus I am hesitant to apply a torch in such a small area where a lot of chemicals including fuel have been spilt lately.

I tore my donor down in a storage unit. The only problem was it was winter and sometimes a challenge with no electricity or air.

I had plenty of room to build in my garage at home, but only because the donor and unnecessary parts were in the storage unit.

The best part was using the storage facility as my base of operations for FB marketplace sales. The rent for 5 months plus 1 month free was totally worth it and there were only about 3 weeks at the end I didn't really need it.

Success, I took the saws all to the steering shaft this evening. Cut through one side of the U-joint and the other side popped off.
I am still gonna have to free it from the steering rack but that’s a project for a later time. Now time to pull the engine and transmission.

And the engine is out of the donor. Feels like a big milestone reached. Now to get it in the garage. My drive way really sucks for rolling heavy stuff around.
Up next is the dash. Probably spend weekend cleaning up my shed and garage. I cleaned it up enough to get the sub frame and engine inside but I need to get the snowblower and grill out so I can have room for the frame when it gets back from the powder coster. Whenever that will be.

Not sure if you have opted for the wiring harness service but normally it takes them a few weeks to do so you may want to try to get that out as soon as possible. For my build, we finished almost everything we could besides the harness and there wasn't much to do for a 2 week period.

Nah doing it myself. I don’t have the budget to pay them to do it. Plus I probably won’t be able to order stage two till next year.
So I have time.
My goal is just to get the car stripped completely first because then I no longer have to worry about the weather when I want to work on the car.

I hope you are labeling and labeling and labeling if it’s going to be that long before you are assembling. And especially on the wiring harness. People think that they can trhow up a picture of a connector and those of us who have completed the Goblin will remember exactly what it is. After several months you will start to forget which are which. Label, label and label again.

This is the truth. I barely remember wiring mine at this point.....

Don't take multiple month breaks if you can avoid it. I did that a couple of times and usually spent half a day figuring out what I had done and where I needed to start on the videos again.

If you look at my photos and you see all those red tags, those are my labels. I have put one on every single connector end and on items like hoses and even obvious things like the BCM and ECM. I am not taking any chances. I have seen way too many "hey where does this go?' threads.
I have also been bagging and labeling important bolts that I am not able to put back into the part it came off of. Otherwise I try to keep everything together.

Honestly budget is going to dictate how much I get done. Not gonna go into details but the IRS has not been kind to me this year and I owe enough in taxes to completely build another Goblin.

Some of my delays were due to budget as well. The nice thing about the harness is that unless you don't have any wiring tools, there isn't much to buy. The table DF recommends that you build takes up quite a bit of space as well, so that's also motivation to get it over with quickly!

Yeah I am planning to set that up in the man cave. That way I can work on it in my free time inside the house and if I have to take a break for dinner or what not I can drop what I am doing and come right back to it.

Gonna wait till tomorrow when there is daylight and I have some help to remove it from inside the car.

You can also just strip it in the car, other have done that. Moving it out is fun as it's super heavy and awkwardly shaped.
