I went with shadeidea for a roof sunscreen. I wanted to be able to keep airflow and cut down on UV. Works and fits nice

I cut a template with my laser. Now I am debating of I should do an overhang to get more sun coverage and hide the imperfections of not having the exact dimensions of the roof...gap dimensions...

I overhung mine but I also had to add a reinforcement bar under it. The whole roof vibrated at high speeds (above 90mph) I don’t know that it was caused by the overhang but seems likely.

M
And I just checked and mine sticks out about 5 inches from the center of the halo bar.
Do you have a picture?? I have some transparent poly carbonate at home. 1/4 in thick. I could, with some fantasy, get this machine on my machine. Just need to get something to make it dark.

Awesome. How did you connected it to the frame. It looks like you drilled holes in the frame?
Those blue bars are for reinforcement?
Did you made a drawing or just made it as you go?

Nutserts in the halo bar. I think I just laid the sheet on the top and marked the halo and adjusted off those lines.
Yes, blue bars are reinforcement. Not sure how necessary it is but helps distribute the load and not use as large a washer.
Hard part is getting the holes centered and nutserts vertical and then through the roof. I didn’t trust that I could drill through it all at once and get them lined up like I wanted. I think I installed the nutserts and then used a sharpened x so screw to transfer to the roof. And I still ended up holes in the roof larger than I wanted.

I ended up with just 2 sheets, not enough to manufacture all 3 parts. Got some quote from Send cut send and measured the aluminum sheet I have at home. I used .040in aluminum for the Diffuser and bend the edges. Decent stable.

I might try to machine that on my milling machine, or will just order .040 or .063in from send cut send. Prices are reasonable and I could add some writing too it.

The Poly carbonate is also pretty have and just by gravity bends in the middle.

Not sure what you are shooting for as a final product but I think 1/16 inch aluminum is going to vibrate like crazy with that much overhang. And can you climb in with that side overhang?

If there's a problem with sun hitting you from the side - reason for overhang? - why not make some flip up side shades and keep the roof within the confines of the halo? These would tuck up against the inside of the roof when not needed or getting in and out of your Goblin, then could be folded down/outward to provide sun protection. There are motorcycle sourced hinges that may work, some with thumb screws to ensure they would stay in place at less than light speeds. :D Just trying to think outside the box if this is your aim. @Gtstorey has a point that getting in and out could be more awkward, especially for large people like we are.

The overhang from the plexiglass sheet to the front is NOT representative. That was just to get the side pieces parallel. I designed the roof with a flange. That should increase the stability quite a bit, but I don't think I need that. The overhang distance from middle of the halo tube is 50mm.

Not sure which picture you wanted to see. Damper, Seat or Brake Discs. So I got you all. You probably notice the newly added speed holes in the aluminum part under my heat exchanger :D

I wonder why my damper look so bad. @ToothMagician s look so much cleaner. Mine look like they were painted and the paint is chipping of everywhere.
