V1 Right/left caliper imbalance

Anyone else have one side lock up first? Seems like my front left will lock up way too early or at least before my right. I switched the pads around just to make sure one set wasn’t glazed and the fluid isn’t dirty. Wondering if I need to rebuild or just source new calipers being little single pistons.

I could be trapped air in the right caliper. What helped me in bleeding was to remove the caliper and raise it as high as possible while connected to the brake line. Rolling it around to encourage any air to migrate up to the bleed screw. Have someone slowly press the brake pedal while cracking the bleed screw to let out any air. If your braking system and car are very new, it took me a few heat cycles to bed the pads and burn off any residue on the brakes before the braking performance was decent, predictable, and even. Try that too before searching for other errant parameters.

I can try that again to make sure. The car is about a year old now with plenty of miles on it. I forgot to mention that sometimes it feels like it hangs up on the left wheel unless I pump the brakes like the piston sticks. The pins moved when I took the apart last month so I don’t think it’s binding there but I’ll check again.

If it's not an issue in the brakes like air or a stuck piston, whack corner balancing can also cause unequal lockup. I wouldn't put it at the top of your list, but if you haven't done any corner balancing, extending the suspension of the wheel that locks up or shortening the side that doesn't can shift some weight and decrease the propensity for early lockup to that wheel.

The few times mine lock at autocross, it’s always LF first. It could be the distance from the master cyl, air or a few other things, including a small stick of the piston. Hell, now that I’m thinking about it, with as light as our cars are, even rotor thickness can play a part.

Corner balancing absolutely helped. Total weight without me is 1630. With me in the car it’s 33/66 front to back. Had to play with the springs a bit but now it seems like they are way more even.
