V1 ToothMagician's Full Cage Country Goblin #493 - '06 SS LSJ Turbo donor

A bit of a Duuuh moment from me. That is a S/C intake manifold! (06!, DOH!)They have their followers who pay good money for them! The S/C manifolds have a cooling system built into them that supercharger folks really like and NEED. I believe the 08/9 SS manifold or the SAAB manifold is supposed to be a better turbo manifold? (I could be mistaken, ask the Turbo guys for their opinions!) Readily available from several sources, used. A couple keep showing up on my Facebook page from Cobalt SS FB forum.

Keep the dental puns coming! I'll have to build the car first, then start messing with engine upgrades. That outflow of money can't be a waterfall, if you know what I'm saying. Speaking of the manifold, The ZZP intake manifold plate has four long allen head screws in it that need to be removed. Two are already broken, and I'm contemplating breaking the other two due to how long they are. They just twist when I put any torque on them. The depth of the throttle body mounting holes are making it impossible to get any sort of extractor on the two broken ones. Any better ideas?

Either way, on to the wiring harness next.

Broke two of the rear caliper mounting bolts because I spaced and, righty-tighty-lefty-loosy became righty-tighter-breaky-oopsy..

You Dentists! (And actually everyone that doesn't wield a wrench everyday!) You're always getting it backwards. Tween you and the patient it's, "I'm out here, the problem is just the other side of this implement". No cure other than practice. Ya gotta be carefuller!, when ya reach yield sometimes bolt shrapnel gains extreme velocities! Other times it's just suddenly a stick in mud moment. PS: Loved the "Wild Kingdom" moment! "While Ned wrestles with this 12' gator and 15' boa constrictor, I'm back at camp making a fresh pot of coffee! Geez, cooking in the wild is full of challenges!"

I took a couple of weeks off for family stuff, but I'm back at it. I had the donor removed last week and Goblin #493 was delivered on Thursday, now siting comfortably in my garage. I used some old sawhorses and a 4X8 sheet of pegboard left here by the previous homeowners for my wiring harness table. I got the wires laid out and stripped of all the tape and clips. Due to the age, I guess...there's melted adhesive all over everything, so it's a messy job. I was thinking about using some goo gone on a paper towel to remove it, but I'm worried I'll lose the harness shape, so ill probably wait until the end of the thinning process for that. I'm going to try and start thinning the wiring harness today and hopefully be done in the next few weeks...wish me luck.

Sticky hands was my least favorite part of redoing the harness

Yup, Gloves FTW! They've definitely been a big help.
Can anyone confirm that this is the headliner harness connector and should be thinned from the harness?
EDIT: Added more photos

There are quite a few headliner plugs, depending on the trim level of your donor.
The headliner plugs are in here, but it takes some digging to find them. I think it is "connector views" and the C100-C200 range.
It might be in this video...

I updated post #30, fixing the "in here". Then went to AllData... but the new site is different... and I didn't find it in "connector views". But it probably is in there somewhere!

How Is this looking? I've got a little less slack than in the video between the fuse box and first split point, but I think it's alright?

Mine was pretty tight too, but I was able to get it installed. I also recommend to not fully tape your harness when complete in case you have to do some troubleshooting or changes.

That's one thing I wish I did differently in my build - wait to wrap it. I didn't have much in the way of troubleshooting but just fitment in the chassis would have been easier if I waited to wrap it completely.

Same….. Lonnie’s soothing hypnotic voice over tricked me into fully wrapping the harness up. Wish I had not and kept it open for troubleshooting.

Any recommendations on the "extension wires"? The majority look like 20-22g wire but I'm not too sure. Everywhere I look says 18g. Is there any harm in splicing in a fatter gauge wire?
