V2-001 is at its new home.

Lonny and Brenda from DF Kit Car loaded up the first production V2 chassis on March 28 and made the drive to deliver it to Val and Tim in person.

A Familiar Garage

Val and Tim have been part of the Goblin community since 2019, when they picked up V1-135. Their V1 is finished in Illusion Shocker, a vibrant green-and-yellow Prismatic Powders coating that's hard to miss in any parking lot. You can actually see it tucked in the background.

When the chance came up to put their name on the first production V2, they took it.

We have been enjoying my husband's V1 (#135) since 2019 and when DF announced the V2, we decided to build me one.

The New Donor

V1-135 was built with a Cobalt SS/TC donor and has had plenty of upgrades over the years. That donor was a running and driving Cobalt that they actually drove down to Texas to visit the shop before building their kit (side note: ask Tim about being a firefighter that day).

For Val's V2-001, they've gone with a totaled 2019 GTI with the 7-speed DSG. It was in no shape to make the drive down to Texas for a visit.

Shipped Incomplete

As mentioned in the previous post (V2-001 in Dirty Magic), V2-001 was shipped out as an incomplete Running Stage kit. The chassis and a subset of the parts went with Lonny and Brenda on this trip. The rest follows once Tim and Val have had a chance to test fit a few items against the actual coated chassis and we've worked through things on our end.

It's not how a typical Running Stage kit ships, but V2-001 is the first one and worth the extra care.

Follow the Build

Val and Tim will be posting their build progress on our forum. You can follow their V2-001 build log for donor teardown, fit-up, and whatever direction they take this thing.
