V1 Traé’s Goblin (06’ SS/SC #501)

Traé
I noticed that the little domed light sensor needs to pretty much be in direct sunlight to do the auto switching. Any bit of shade and it thinks it's pitch black dark outside.
I don’t have the sensor attached. I ripped the female connector off when I was pulling the dash.

I don’t think I care for the automatic control as It will turn my lights completely off. My hope is to find a way to have my low beams remain on and have my cluster lights be as bright as possible all the time. I’ll have to get a new connector and try the light sensor. If I wire the light sensor wires together would that simulate daytime or nighttime??

Have you checked the actual wiring diagram? I think the lighting is wired so it will be easy to just wire the lighting so it gives full 12v to the cluster backlight all the time. But that doesn't help the cluster messages if that is what you want to see.

I have not, I will look when I am home this weekend. The cluster messages are really what I am concerned with. I should have been clearer in my first message.

Kit #501 is inspected, titled, and plated! Insurance will happen later this week.

I will be Thanksgiving in your neighborhood. Do you mind if I can sit in your Goblin? I am still not happy with my seat, but to worried about my heights to order another seat.

Also do you have a picture from the back? Would love to see your tail lights, saw them in another post and they look really great.

I do not mind at all! I’ll have to get back to you later this week. We may be going out of town.
I have this pic but it may have been from the post you saw. If you want another angle I’ll have to take one when I’m home.

I noticed today while driving around that the intake bounces a lot. Has anyone utilized a creative way to secure it? I’ve seen others use insulated bar clamps and screw into the face but where the SC intakes fall this will not work for me. It is at too much of an angle and sticks out past the bars too much. It may not be effecting anything but it sounds like the air is very turbulent while it is bouncing, which would make sense.

Should the intake be turned up to rest on the upper bar? I currently have it installed as shown below.

Mine is turned down, but I don’t have sides either. Yours might take on too much heat in the down position. I should really stick mine straight out for autocross, now that I think about it.

My air filter baggy had these so the only thing I could think of doing was this. Seems to work fine this way. I have it setup for the engine cover

Thats what I was hoping to do, with the routing from the SC it sticks out too far past that tube and is at too much of an angle. I am going to work on making a bracket this weekend to try to get it more secure where it is now.

I'll take better pics when I get home, but my filter doesn't stick out that far

That would be great! Thank you. Would you mind throwing a tape measure on the elbow in one of your pictures? I want to see if the measurement from the end of the elbow to centerline is the same as mine.
I also don't have the aluminum pipe shoved very far into the elbow or the filter, just enough to get the clamps on. This might be contributing to the length a bit compared to yours. I read somewhere the MAF likes it better if the pipe is not buried in the filter and elbow.

My elbow is ≈3.5” end to centerline on each side.

Sticks out past the frame ≈2”.

And has ≈3.5” between the elbow and the filter.

Maf works best with smooth air flow in a straight run. But I don't know that the few inches you will gain by sliding the pipes in further will make any real difference to how the MAF will function.

The intake tube on my LSJ is at the cusp of minimum length for the MAF. Making sure the filter utilizes its base radius is important, if the aluminum tube is slid in too far, it wreaks the airflow. I played around with running a longer intake, by looping the air filter towards the center of the car, and it changed the tune a fair bit, but not really for the better. It sounded good thou!

Good to see another "rigid" taillight picture. I know they're gonna look sick. Not sure if I made the right call by buying the brand name.
As much as I wanted the Rigid lights, these are not it.
Kemimoto had a light that looks identical to the rigid and a lot cheaper.
The ones I have are just a trailer light that I bought from Amazon. I just installed them in the slanted orientation because I liked the look!

I have brackets that fit the DF mounts that will set the Rigid lights at the same angle as yours. They look awesome.
