V1 David's Track ,street goblin - in NJ

David
Tell me about it I must of Called about 10 places
And I have my attic full of parts I'm selling just need the shell gone

P
I checked the local metal recycling yard and was told they didn't deal with car shells but told me a local salvage yard would probably take it. I loaded my shell onto my trailer and basically gave the shell to a salvage yard along with all the junk parts loaded inside it. :D The seats were the only parts I was able to sell since there isn't a big market for Cobalt parts in the Dodge City area. I was able to use a bunch of the trim out of the donor to finish up a 2008 Cobalt LS I originally got as a donor but since it was so nice, I decided to sell it.

Had I still lived in the Wichita, KS area, I would have had several options to get rid of the shell AND be paid for it! I just didn't want to drag the shell ~ 2 hours + on two lane roads just to make a couple of $$ (which would have been eaten up by the gas used!)

Wait, you guys don't just stack them up behind your buildings like we do?

These are the 6 shells left over from the following builds:
  • P1
  • P2
  • Dyno Man
  • DanPerryy
  • All terrain Goblin
  • the Goblin from the instructional videos
We're hoping that if we collect enough of them we can get a mobile crusher out here to pick up all of them at once.

Also behind the buildings are other future donors (the red Cobalt in the background that is considerably shorter than the others is actually the shell from my dad's LSJ donor):

I was able to trailer it to a salvage yard. They gave me $75 for it. I heard a different one would have given me more, but it's done now.

Would you ever consider selling any part off that red SS/TC to the left?

I'm looking at maybe the hood, grill, wheels, and front brakes.

I have all of those if you want them. The hood and wheels and brakes are in really good condition. I dont know what part of the grill you want but the black grill is ok.

So I just took trans off and I figured that while it's out I should change the clutch and flywheel
My question what are guys using for a clutch and flywheel what brand, stage, lightweight flywheel or stock any recommendations
And also just want to make sure it can handle 300+hp

I am planning on about 400whp, so I need to beef up my clutch and flywheel. I chose a south bend stage 4 plus flywheel from ZZP and a fidanza flywheel.

For you you could go with the fidanza or ZZP brand flywheel that fits your car, and then if 300whp and 300fb a stage 2 or 3 south bend clutch. All that is about 900 dollars, depending on the clutch.

I used the flydenza aluminum flywheel saves 9 lbs and the GM performance parts clutch which is good for over 300. 3800 miles on it so far does great no slipping.

I just cleaned mine a few days ago. Do yourself a favor and spend $60 or so for a media blaster and some walnut shells. Lesson learned.
Yea I was looking into that I also read some where to soak them in acdelco top engine cleaner then go with a tooth brush.
How did you go about cleaning them?

B
Chemtool B-12 and a toothbrush. Took most of the day for soaking and scrubbing.

The chemtool works good, but a blaster would have done a much better and faster job.

So just a little update I finally found a solution to get rid of the donor I called a scrap yard and they sent a tow company and they give me 20 bucks at least it's better then nothing
