V1 David's Track ,street goblin - in NJ

Ross
Excellent so the radiator fan has the ground to the frame in the front. So I can cut the plug out, and add a weather thight plug just for the 12v.

As for the map sensors, both have 3 wires
Maybe you are looking at the barometer sensor, and the MAP sensor?

So just found this video from ZZP I believe its the opposite of what I thought. The barometer is on the side of the block, the one loose is the super charger pressure sensor (not being used now) and the map sensor is on the intake manifold.

Thank you Ross your been awesome. Hopefully my question dont keep boring you lol

Well found a surprise on the garage floor. Pervious owner disclosed that he didn't have no leaks but I find it hard to believe. There is a coolant and oil leak, its a double whammy.

Looks like Coolant from the HX (or whatever Turbo calls it) pump. Could be as simple as a loose clamp. Or, if you are using the stock LSJ style coolant fill neck, it has a hose that just dumps excess water to the ground.

If you have to drain it, I recommend using different colors fluids than the orange engine coolant. That way you can tell which system is leaking.

So I spent a couple minutes trying to see if it could see where the leaks are coming from. I got frustrated snice obviously I shouldn't have any.

- Coolant leak it the zzp high output coolant pump.

- As for the oil there is oil everywhere on the bottom. I cleaned up the best I could and after a few minutes you see a drop from the camshaft sensor housing.
Also there is the main harness that runs on the bottom that has a bluid up of oil. The weirdest thing is no oil nowhere around it. I even took the loom off thinking it was following the loom inside and nothing.

Wrost oil leak that I kind of think is leaking is the head gasket. I clean it up and I see a little seepage but cant 100% say it is.

What do you guys recommend I start with? Im really pissed off, was hoping for a solid bluid and ending up with a huge headache.

Sorry for the rant.

Great idea on the coolant colors. I posted what I found for now. Just have to see what steps I should take next.

- Coolant leak it the zzp high output coolant pump. Is it from the pump or from the pump hoses?

- As for the oil there is oil everywhere on the bottom. I cleaned up the best I could and after a few minutes you see a drop from the camshaft sensor housing. I think camshaft seals are bad about leaking if older. That would be a good replacement just anyways.
Also, there is the main harness that runs on the bottom that has a buildup of oil. The weirdest thing is no oil nowhere around it. I even took the loom off thinking it was following the loom inside and nothing. My harnesses collect all sorts of road grime. Also, may not have been cleaned up from the original donor. This could also be working its way down from the camshaft seal.
Worst oil leak that I kind of think is leaking is the head gasket. I clean it up and I see a little seepage but can't 100% say it is. Spray this one off with brake cleaner or something and see if it comes back.

What do you guys recommend I start with? I'm really pissed off, was hoping for a solid build and ending up with a huge headache. Start with the Camshaft seals. and a good cleaning on the harness and engine. Then you can monitor a clean engine and harness for other potential leaks. The pump will take you 10 minutes to change if it's leaking from the unit. If it's a hose or clamp, it'll be even easier.

Engine only has 980 miles or so. Everything was rebuilt by 1st owner then 2nd owner fixed a couple of gremlins.

I will spary everything with brake cleaner, then replace the gasket for the camshaft sensor housing.

Its the pump itself from the body by the top screw.

David
How effective or dangerous Is this dye for the engine? Especially a rebuilt engine with all new internals.

Dyes are pretty common to use when diagnosing leaks. I wouldn’t think it would hurt anything. You could always change the oil after you find/fix the leak, if it makes you feel better.

the electric water pump is an easy fix. I have an extra in my stash because they fail somewhat regularly.

don't get frustrated. It’ll all work out.

Ok so I used 5 cans of brake cleaner and left everything spotless no oil. I took a simple of the oil to send to Blackstone to see if they see anything in the oil.

I poured the 1oz of oil dye and let it run for 10 min. So far I found 3 leaks 2 of them dont look to bad. The one that im not sure about is coming from between the Trans and engine. I put shop towels around the top 2 leaks. Tomorrow I will run it again for 10 minutes and see if anything new pops up.

Can it be that the top leaks was leaking so bad that got in-between the trans and engine? That shouldn't happen anyways. Or is it the rear main seal

Ok so I ran it again today and have the 3 same leaks. The two tops ones which I have ordered parts to repair. The big one is the one between the Trans and engine. Unfortunately its not residual oil as its glowing with the dye.

What would be the next step?

Im assuming its a rear main seal

I agree, rear main seal. Drop the engine, split the transmission off, remove the clutch, replace rear main seal, put it together again.
Whole weekend is gone!
Maybe add the Camaro clutch remote bleeder extension .. or at least bleed the clutch before lifting the subframe into its final position.

Great just what I wanted to do. Another reason why dont buy out of state if you personally dont have eyes on it. Live and learn but the wrost part is I never learn and keep making the same mistake lol.

My rear main is leaking. It doesn’t leak when parked over grass though, so that’s where I like to park it. Weird. o_O

Thats great, if you where to replace it what are guys using? I have used alot of FEL-Pro gasket with pretty good results
