Well I wont have any real updates until the weekend of the 3rd. The engine will be here on the 30th. I will post some random shots of the parts I have prepped over the next two weeks. Glad I left myself something to do during the down time.

Also here are a few updated pictures of the parts I have cleaned up. I need to find a close matching paint for the transmission that will match the new engine........unless I go all black on that........whats everyone vote? Stay silver or go all black?

Engine arrives tomorrow, new clutch kit came in today. Painted the remaining donor parts that I currently have. We will see how the color matches up....50/50 still if I will paint it all black.

This is just me, but I'm not a huge fan of painting aluminum. I think chips and scratches stick out more on aluminum especially against a contrasting color like black.

Don't get me wrong. A black engine and transmission would still look sharp, and the pics of painted engines here are awesome. But I like the look of the natural aluminum better and it holds up better in the long run.

Take that for what it's worth which is nothing.

I decided the moment I saw the new engine it wasn't getting painted. I thought everything you just wrote, so I agree! I will see how close the transmission lines up and maybe paint that something a little bit different so it is as close as possible.

Getting at it. Most of the intake manifold side is complete. The transmission is just resting there to keep things steady as I need a clutch alignment tool to get things back together. Not sure why they didnt send one with the GMPP clutch kit. The only thing I am debating painting or PCing is the valve cover.....I would just do it black.

Getting prepped to bolt the engine in place. Which hoses from the original radiator will I be reusing? I have everything in the picture, but dont have the red hose, Assuming I need that one or something that works in its place?

Maybe this is a dumb question, but how are you guys doing your first start if you dont have Stage 2 on hand? No MAF/IC components.

You don't need any of that for first start. I started mine with no air filter or anything.

Df gives you the hose you're wondering about and the hose you have folded up gets removed and you can use heater hose they provide or you can go down to advance and find something that works. I did the latter.

Ok, I have a couple questions.

PICTURE 1 - What is everyone doing with the following plugs? AC, Fan(there is a another not pictured), Lower MAP sensor....at least I am pretty sure that is what it was and the random plug I have.....cant find where that goes. Is everyone just cutting these out?

PICTURE 2 - Where does this ground go?

PICTURE 3 - I cant identify/remember where this vacuum line goes.

1) You can either cut out the A/C wiring or you can just tie it up somewhere. Don't cut out the MAP sensor. It will go in our throttle body tube. See link for #3.
