V1 Jug's Goblin #420 Build! - 2009 SS/TC donor, Ext/Open Frame, San Antonio TX.

Apologies in advance but I have a dumb question on when do the side mirror white lights turn on? I was able to get the left and right yellow turn signals to work but didn't know how or when the other two white lights turn on. I tried running through all the light switches positions. I just bought an ambient light sensor to plug in to dash but it's not here yet. Do the headlights or taillights have to be wired up for them to work?

I wired them this way
Harness Pink(Red?) to Mirror Yellow
Harness Orange to Mirror Green
Harness Green to Mirror White

Thanks!

Brake light is not related to any other light except maybe the brake lights (and I doubt even that). Removing the abs module turns it on an about the only way to turn it off is cut the trace in instrument cluster or put tape over the bulb inside the IC.

Ross
Is your brake light on because the parking brake switch thinks the parking brake is left on? My goblin's BCM will "ding" at me if my parking brake handle is not fully down... I am not sure if the brake light comes on, but the dinging, I do notice.

G
Where is the dinging coming from? I didn’t know there was anything left to generate a sound.
I’m pretty sure the light is tripped when removing the abs module in addition to just a parking brake reminder. And likely also comes on with low brake fluid on some versions.

Ross
I think the sound comes from the BCM, but I never really thought about it. Maybe the instrument cluster?
I went out to the garage, and hopped in, pulled the parking brake, and the key. No dinging. It just did this last week with my wife in the car. Beats me, I can't make it ding, but when it wants to ding, I know to lower the parking brake handle.

Gents,

All four of the brake master cylinder brass fittings kept leaking and I thought the tighter you twist they would make a seal. I of course dorked them up trying to remove them once I found that you are supposed to put red locktite on those threads to prevent the leaks. Does anyone have a part number for those so I can replace them or should I contact Adam??? Thanks so much. I'm about 90 percent done but it seems like that last 10 percent takes quite a bit of effort!

Ross
Contact Adam if you want new brake lines. If you buy new brake line fitting bolts, you will need to cut the flare off the brake line, install the new bolt, then put a new flare on the slightly shorter brake line.

Gents,

I have the aftermarket aluminum shifter and the Corbeau FX1 seats. The shifter cables hit the outside ridge of the seat when I put it in first or second. Would it be best to remove cover of seat and trim back the plastic edge of seat??

Thanks!

And also when installing rivnuts to the frame to install the sheet metal panels. Don't add an extra hole into the bottom of the frame where the coolant hose lies. Cause it's an awful feeling when you realize what you've done. I am gonna superglue and Johnny weld the rubber hose and then JB weld to hole and hope it works for a bit. Not sure if I can pull that hose back out of the frame. I've got about three inches of hose on each side.

Ross
Does that aftermarket shifter have adjustment choices? A picture or two could help. Adjusting the shifter cable can result in more forward gear positions.

Don't beat yourself up, you're not the first one to drill the coolant hoses. Live and learn, just like the rest of us.

Three inches is more than enough to get the job done.
I had to pull my hoses right after installing and managed. I turned the hose pulling tool into a reverse pulling tool by putting it on a 12ft board and then crancking it out. I had to pull about 3ft, cut hose and reposition. It was slow but got it. Be patient and methodical and you’ll get it. I may have photos in my build log.

This has been quite possibly one the most rewarding things I've ever accomplished. I got the donor from Copart on March 15, 2022 so about a 2 and a half year build but I took about an eight month break in there when I got fairly frustrated with the build and life things, so in reality a little less than two years.

I am not a mechanic at all. In the past I've done brakes, shocks, alternators, batteries and oil changes but only because I didn't have the money to take to a shop. I have learned so much and bought a bunch of tools along the way. The only thing I had to send out was for the powder coating, but I did consider trying to put two ovens together and bake parts outside. Everything else I accomplished. I think I spent more time online researching how to do things than actually working on the car. Thanks to all in the forums who post and answered all my questions.

Most of the build was done very early in the mornings before I took the kids to school. I bet my neighbors are glad that it's done!

The quality of this kit far exceeded my expectations. From the video's to the organized boxes and bagies it really is exceptional and would recommend to anyone looking for a fantastic projectBesides maybe the solid transmission mount all the pieces fit very well and I can't believe how good it looks, how fun it is, and how affordable it was to build.

Only thing i really have left is to figure out a small transmission leak that I think is either old brake fluid going into the clutch pipe or the clutch pipe is still leaking. I just got an endoscope in the mail!

I also need to figure out how to insure and title it in Texas and then hopefully show it off in some local car shows.

Respectfully,
Justin

Nice. Looks good.

American modern for insurance (I can give you a contact) and persistence on the titlework will get it done.
