V1 Manny's City Goblin - 07 SS/SC Donor

Karter2026
I'm glad you mentioned the ears. I though about taking them off. But was not 100% sure about it. I'll prob remove them tomorrow.
I left one of the welded ears on my sub frame. I believe it is on the right side to mount the ambient temperature sensor to. I thought it was mentioned in one of the videos. The other one i cut off and ground down the welds.

Yeah i remember that from the video. I may need to look and see if I can find that sensor. I don't remember it on my headlight harness.

Oddly, my sensor was missing from my donor. Never did find it. Ended up ordering one from RockAuto. Still had the harness, thought why not have have the sensor to display the temp on the dash.

A couple more pictures of the clean up stage. The lower control arms and steering got pretty clean. They cleaned up quick actually.

Then with a little more light.

Would it be wise to paint these?
I did a little work to the knuckles and they aren't quite as easy to get clean. I'll most likely have to clean and paint those for sure.

I would paint the rack but not the arms. Love the arms all cleaned up. Yep, you need bushings also. Everyone one of the cars needs those bushings.

The best paint I have found and used it on everything now is this Eastwood paint. It's more expensive than the Crustoleum you find at the store but it's many times better in every way! I have not been able to empty a can of the Crustoleum due to cans and tips clogging (and terrible spray patterns when they do). Two cans of this Eastwood will cover about all of the bits and pieces for the car.

Love this stuff!

Got a couple more hours into the wiring harness and have a few more questions. First what is this plug?
MVIMG_20180331_092543.jpg

What is this plug? I have it lables power train harness but in video 12 @ 630, I don't have that plug. Is this the replacement for the SS and my year?

Then when it comes to the data wires, here are mine, they aren't like the video. One from the ECU one from this connector.
MVIMG_20180331_113137.jpg MVIMG_20180331_113212.jpg
Thoughts?

Other than those items I'm done with video 12. Thinned out a lot.

I prepped the axles, one knuckle but I need to remove the other hub before painting the other knuckle, any suggestions on an easy way to remove it?
I also meant to ask. I cannot find the battery current sensor wires...I couldn't find the connector either .

You also won't have a powertrain harness if you have the manual transmission. There are a few connectors on the manual transmission, but those are tied into the engine harness and easy to see and understand.

Thank goodness. I was really hoping i didnt cut it out. Any idea what that connector is then?

Thanks for your help.

I believe the first blue plug may be for your speakers.

The second 8 pin plug I believe hooks to your engine harness.

You should have data wires coming from your BCM gong to the big multi plug on your dash harness. When you cut the data wires loose from the big plug they will get extended and ran to the back of the goblin and hooked to the data wires that come out of the ECM.

Thanks! I saw a couple notes on the thread of the video after I posted but I'm glad you cleared it up.

Update time...I have finished video 13, and am planning to start 14 this weekend.

The better news however is yesterday I drove from Annapols MD to pick up me kit in Imperial PA, about 4.5 hours. I drove my truck and also rented an Uhaul 5x9 trailer with ramp. It fit perfect. Got to give it to the DF team for their wood supports. It made it likely a combine 1500 miles. Wednesday night I was looking online for a set of used wheels and I came across a set in PA, luckily the seller was really responsive and I met him about 20 minutes after I picked up my kit. Its a set of Black Konig Oversteers, 17x8 with Falken Azenis FK450's. They are all season tires but I couldn't pass up the deal. The tires and wheels both only have about 6k miles on them.

This is my set up for the trailer and packages. Also my wheels. Inside wasn't too bad either. I put the sides, hood and a couple of the other boxes that were a bit lighter in there. I dont think the frame moved at all the whole ride. Also you guys mentioned your MPG on your trips. Generally I average about 17.5, this trip was 11.5. Tons of hills, a little traffic and honestly I was speeding the whole way.

Making the best use of the trailer while I had it...This morning I also dropped my kit off at powder coating as well. I am going with an Tex Black for the floor, gas tank, firewalls, kick plate. Tex black almost looks like rhino liner, but its not quite as abrasive. For the suspension arms and frame I am planning to go with "Poly Silver Vein." Here is my frame at the powder coating shop. I feel like I am also getting a good deal at 500-600 quoted for all parts. This shop looked like they did some really large projects. Which you can kind of see in the background.

Glad to see it made it's way out to Maryland
You will have to let us know how you like the tex black

Thanks, I appreciate you're help with the process. I saw a sample and I immediately liked it much more the a flat color of black. He also said it would hold up a lot more. I tried to google a few pictures but the easiest thing to compare it to is really the rhino liner, although i am sure its not as durable as that, its not meant to be.

Pretty much done with video 14. Though this one is where ive lost a little confidence. Mostly just near the OB2 sensor. I have this red wire which I need to track down, I believe it may have been incorrectly extended to it the accessory plug. Anyone know if I can just attach it to the same Accessory wire?
MVIMG_20180407_205524.jpg

Then I also am not sure exactly how the green wires all come together as seen below. In the video it was a little unclear. Can I just connect them all?
MVIMG_20180407_215603.jpg

On the switch pictured below does anyone know if the brown/black wire is a ground or if it's goes back to the ECU? I've got an extra brown wire on the other end where the dash harness connects and I'm wondering if that should have went there.
MVIMG_20180407_204101.jpg

I am not going to wrap it fully yet. As mentioned I am not sure if I believe in it 100%. I am feeling defeated right now. Wish I could rewind a bit and lable the wires a little better. The bad part is it will be awhile before I can try it out.

Likely going to finish up a few things based on you guys comments to the harnesses then start prepping the engine itself.

All the green wires are the low speed data wires. They can be shortened and cut off the big, bulky connector and solder them all together.

The red wire is most likely a constant power or accessory wire. Can't tell exactly what it goes to by just the color as there are many wires that color.

This is the reson I did tape my harness completely until I was able to lay everything out on the frame.
