Goblin V1 Donor Parts List
Last updated: Nov 18, 2025 by Adam Doyle
Parts to Remove From the Cobalt Donor
This list is not in any particular order and is meant as a guide for stripping the donor. Parts needed can vary based on the trim and your final goals.
If you do not have a key, save the driver-side door lock. A key blank can be cut using the lock and the Cobalt control system can relearn the new chip.
General Notes
Take your time during disassembly. Unclip or unplug wires, switches, and connectors rather than cutting them. Many connectors will be reused.
Electrical System Components to Keep
- All vehicle wiring (remove cleanly without cutting wires)
- Powertrain harness (stays attached to engine and transmission during removal)
- Front end harness (headlights, horn, washer pump, temperature sensor, etc.)
- Dashboard harness
- Main body harness (front to rear)
- Main battery power cable (trunk to engine bay)
- Starter power cable
- Headlight pigtails with a few inches of wire
- Engine compartment fuse block with plastic housing and lid
- Thick positive battery cable (battery harness)
- Ground cable in trunk, including amperage module when applicable
- Engine Control Module (ECM)
- Transmission Control Module (TCM on automatics only)
- Body Control Module (BCM)
- Fuel pump and O-ring
- Horn (often needed for inspections)
Powertrain/Drivetrain Components to Keep
The engine, transmission, subframe, and suspension drop out as one powertrain assembly.
- Powertrain assembly
- Subframe
- Engine
- Intake manifold
- Exhaust manifold
- Alternator
- Transmission
- Axles
- Knuckles
- Struts with springs and upper buckets
- Bearing hubs
- Control arms
- Sway bar (optional)

- Primary O2 sensor (save the second as a spare)
- Coolant tank and hoses
- Brake fluid reservoir
- Brake master cylinder
- Brake booster and vacuum line
- Radiator hoses (upper and lower)
Interior Components to Keep
- Shifter assembly
- Single shifter cable (automatics only)

- Steering column with power steering
- Steering shaft and universal joints
- Ignition switch
- Pedal boxes
- Dashboard wiring
- Turn signal switch
- Front seats (optional but useful if not running racing seats)
- Rear seat rail bolts
- Front seat belts (optional, may be needed for inspections)
- Parking brake handle mechanism
- Parking brake aluminum guide tubes
- Parking brake cables (drum-brake donors require SS cables instead)
Miscellaneous Items to Keep
- Every fastener (store in labeled bags)
- Fuel filler neck with cap
- Fuel filter (except SS/TC which is built into pump)
- Rear wheel bearing hubs and mounting nuts
- Brake line spring clips (U-shaped retainers)
Final Reminder
Save everything until the car is built. It is always easier to discard unused items later than to hunt for missing components.
