What is a donor car?

Many kit cars use a common production vehicle as a donor to provide major components such as the engine, transmission, wiring, fuel system parts, brakes, and other hardware necessary for the build.

Reusing parts from a donor car helps keep the overall cost of the project lower. Most builders purchase a wrecked or high-mileage vehicle from a salvage auction because the mechanical parts are often still in good working condition even if the exterior or interior damage makes the car not worth repairing. This makes it an economical source for the parts needed to complete the kit.

The Goblin platform uses a donor vehicle in the same way. The specific donor required depends on which version of the Goblin you are building. For example, Goblin V1 uses the Chevrolet Cobalt or Pontiac G5, and Goblin V2 uses the Volkswagen Mk7 Golf and GTI. You will need to purchase the appropriate donor to match the Goblin model you plan to build.
