Why Choose a Base-Model Goblin?

The naturally aspirated 2.2L and 2.4L engines make around 155 horsepower in stock form, and when paired with a lightweight 1500-pound chassis, that power goes a long way. Compared to modern muscle cars that weigh two to three times more, the base-model Goblin delivers incredible acceleration without struggling for traction.
In daily driving situations, high-horsepower cars often spin their tires when its time to get on it. A base-power Goblin just launches. The power-to-weight ratio creates a fast, responsive, and confidence-inspiring driving experience that surprises most people on their first ride.
Starting with a base donor does still provide some upgrade paths. Once you are comfortable driving and want more power, adding a supercharger or turbocharger can increase output by 75 or more horsepower without changing donors.
The base-model Goblin is an excellent balance of performance, affordability, simplicity, and drivability. For many owners, it is the perfect place to start.
