I had a similar thing like that on my valve cover. The only thing I found was the previous owner tried to "glue" the check valve going into the intake and it dripped down on the valve cover.Well Surprise, Surprise (sorry Gomer Pyle) I ran the engine up to operating temperature and then scraped all this JB Weld off. Started the engine and nothing. NO leaks, no issues. What it was on there for is beyond me. Before & after pictures. This engine runs so well I may not do anything to it. Purrs like a kitten, smooth and quiet.
If the surface is oily JB won't stick very well and could be removed. That stuff looked to glossy to be JB weld though.Yikes! How much work was it to scrape off? I’m wondering if it wasn’t JB weld, I don’t think JB would be scrapeable?
Frank, looks like you had a run in with something more serious in the past, that's a bragging scar above your knee.Well minor setback last night. While taking the donor off of the "borrowed" trailer I fell through the rotten wood. Banged up my right knee pretty good but luckily I did not break anything. It's sore but will be OK in a few days.
It was not too difficult. Kind of chiseled it off with a screwdriver, then rotary wire brush in a drill.Yikes! How much work was it to scrape off? I’m wondering if it wasn’t JB weld, I don’t think JB would be scrapeable?
I have had two surgeries on that knee. Glad it was not more serious. I can live with a bruise and a scrape.Frank, looks like you had a run in with something more serious in the past, that's a bragging scar above your knee.![]()
Exactly. The engine runs very well with no diagostic codes. In fact I am surprised at how well it runs and sounds.Soooo, since it's a match chances are the Cobalt owner took pretty good car of your donor, BONUS!![]()
