Noob, don't own a Goblin yet, but I have a question

Just a question, I'm moving this spring and when we do I'm hoping to start a kit car once I get settled. I'm a Dodge guy in the long run. But I also know Chevy. Has anybody thrown a SRT4 power plant in this? I had a 2005 neon se 2.0l Auto..not srt4, and it stomped 2 different supercharged cobalts and Audis with a comp cam and valve springs, everything else was stock. I used to be a Dodge tech and drove quite a few SRT4s...I think this kit would rip with a built SRT4 power train.

You can install any driveline you wish, as long as you can engineer and fabricate the engine/transmission mounts, potential suspension differences, and the integration of the electrical wiring, coolant and fuel systems into the Goblin chassis. Just be prepared for lots of work that will likely not be able to be supported by the forum due the choice of different drivetrain.

The LSJ (supercharged) is 205 HP stock. So a hopped up SRT will probably be more than a match. But the GM Ecotec can 'rip' just as well as any other manufacturer's 2.0 liter platform - see @Justinreed7 forum information if you are needing to see the potential of the LSJ/LNF engines.

Stock vs stock, the SRT4 vs LNF have basically the same peak power and torque. The SRT4 is a 2.4L vs the LNF 2.0L, so the SRT4 probably has a bit more low end torque. Definitely not worth the swap, unless you're just really into MOPAR and want something different.

Yeah I'm the weirdo that would go Mopar just because I like it a little better. I've been planning to fab my own car like this for quite a while, then I found the df goblin and it's basically the design I was kinda thinking of but it's already done for me. So a little more fab work to figure a Mopar instead of a ecotec in place..bring it on. Thanks for the response guys.

The question isn’t really can it be done…of course it can. The question should be “Do you prefer driving or building?” If you enjoy the challenge of modifying and fabricating, then go for it. If you prefer to assemble then drive, stay with the as designed kit. The larger the change from how it was designed, the longer completion will take.

Yep! How true! (But some of us love designing and fabricating) :cool:

I really appreciate the positivity. I'd love to start now but my timeline looks like I can't start till at least fall 2024. Yes I agree about the cruiser transmission better than the neon.

Just keep in mind, Goblin V1 is only guaranteed to be produced through the end of 2024. Beyond that, it will depend on demand. After that, Goblin V2 will be the focus, and at present time, it is planned to be essentially sold as a roller and is based on a VW Golf GTI.
