Here’s how I shaved mine down to clear the hood thingy.

If you are in an emission county, you’ll need the evap stuff. If you are not in an emission county, you won’t, but Its not a bad idea to keep it though, in case they change the rules on us. They have done it already, so you never know. if you are in an emission county, you’ll also need a cat, but that’s for later.

You need to keep the title to the cobalt. This is your proof nothing is stolen. It will be given to the dmv when you do your title work. Depending on your area rules, you’ll need to surrender the title to scrap the shell. Some cut it up and scrap it (can’t resemble a car) and some have placed ads for someone to just take it away, with good success. As long as you keep the title, do what you want.

post a few pics of everything left so we can tell you if you have forgot anything or not.
Thank you! In that case I will still need to pull the evap canister which I may do this evening. Once I get the car empty I'll take some pictures to see if I missed anything. I had stuffed all of the interior panels, trim, and trunk liner back into the empty car to get it out of the way but also out of the elements. I need to see if I can find a list of prices to sell off the extra parts. All of the interior was in great shape including the recaro seats. Is there anyone in here who happens to be going the other way and building a Cobalt SS out of a Goblin? If so I'll make you a great deal on some parts! :p

Rttoys
Haha. Not as much fun going backwards.
-Buddies drunk, high or both talking around a camp fire-
Buddy 1- “hey, I have an idea.....let’s take your goblin an make it back into a cobalt”
Buddy 2- “Ya man, that would be awesome”
Buddy 3- “y’all are meth‘d up, go to bed” :p

Be sure to take a pic or cut out the RPO plate in the trunk. This shows every option on the cobalt and can be handy when ordering parts.

Recaro seats means you have a LSD trans. Sweet.

CodyP
I pulled all the trim pieces out of the shell to take pictures of what's left to get a second opinion on if I need to keep anything else. So it looks like I'm not in an emissions county and don't need the evap parts, but I will be pulling the canister to save it just in case. I don't need anything from the headliner right? Here's the pictures of what's left. Here's what's left of the interior first.

And here's what's left of the exterior. I don't need anything from three rear end, axle, suspension, or brake parts right?

Looking through the pics and I think you are good. I kept the box above the rear axle. I wasn't sure if I will need it for emissions or not.

I see the rear hubs are still on. Fresh replacements are cheap so I wouldn't bother with them.

I would keep the flexible fuel line. the 45* bend works better on the engine than the supplied 90* fitting.

The abs module can be resold, but may take a while. Plus, either keep the brake lines going from the master to the abs module or gut the ends off at the master and keep the fittings. For a future project ;)

Of course, the cat is worth some money too, but cut the flange coming off the manifold in case you want to make your own exhaust. Then you will have a flange to build off of.

Oh. And take the nuts off the rear hubs that keep them attached to the rear axle. You’ll need those for your new hubs. And keep the brackets that hold the park brake cables secure to the body. Those can be reused too.

Rttoys
And blow up them side curtain air bags. Get the family around at detonate them (I can explain how if you want to know). This is educational for everyone.

I ordered the 5x114.3 hubs with my kit. Didn't think I'd need these.

Awesome thanks. I'll pull those parts as well.

Someone mentioned saving a connector from the passenger seat for something? But I don't see a connector of any kind. There is however a connector that runs to the buckle on the driver side seat. Do I need to save that connector/cable? Also do I need to save the rails/sliding mechanism from the seats for my build if I plan on using braum racing seats? I will be selling the recaro seats to recoup some of the money from the donor, so keeping them around isn't an option. Here are pictures of the bottoms of both seats.

Not that I can think of. I think the seatbelt connection is tied together during the harness modification, so the seatbelt light stays off.

no on the rails or sliders either. The race seats should have their own mounting system.

Fozda
Powered seats have a nice big connector that can be used for the button panel but the Recaros are manual seats so we don't have one of those connectors.

Got around to posting the spare donor parts last night before I went to bed. I woke up to a slew of questions and offers today. Man, these "Cobalt people" really do feel some type of way about these cars and parts. I've already had a couple of people pay me for things I told them I would ship in a few days. I'll try to keep an update on the parts sold and what I got for them. So far I've sold :
-Catalytic converter (with the exhaust pipe and flanges cut off) $300
-Sunroof track and frame(minus the glass and motor) $240
-Driver door(minus the interior trim panel), Pioneer subwoofer, and 4 stock wheels $350

Edit: I got stood up on the driver door, sub, and wheels.

Nice job. Those Cobalt kids are really something else. But good for you on getting value out of some items that don't seem to be very good sellers. Those wheels are fugly, imo.

My best FB Marketplace story was from when I listed my LNF donor's steering knuckles. I was converting over to the suspension setup from the earlier SS's, due to being unable to find a proper control arm for less than a fortune. As we all know, LNF knuckles have a larger opening for the ball joint. I specifically said in the listing, "Know what you're buying ... these are LNF knuckles, and won't fit on any Cobalt except the 08-10 SS Turbo." Within like 10 minutes of listing them, someone in Colorado (I'm in Pennsylvania) message'd me about them, needed them ASAP, would I please ship overnight, yadda yadda. I double-checked him, repeating the above warning. He said he knew these cars inside and out and just please ship them overnight, ASAP. So I did ... and of course, you know what happened. He installed them, and got on FB Marketplace to make a flame post against me, saying I sold him bad knuckles that had "a lot of play in the front end". He pretty much trashed me, and told all of FB Marketplace to blacklist me. Crazily enough, after I responded by quoting my own posting ("Know what you're buying..."), all the Cobalt kids actually came to my defense, asking him the model year of his car and after finding out he was trying to put them on a LT, told him he's drunk, go home. It was glorious.

Second to that, I had a young guy buy my original donor's spoiler. It was a yellow, "low-rise" spoiler, you know, the one the kids DON'T like. He settled for it because it was the only one in driving distance. Then months went by, I found out my original donor's engine was.........a project, so I acquired my second donor. The same guy bought my black "high-rise" spoiler and paid $175 for it, telling me the original yellow one "looked like ass on a red car". Okay! Thanks for the sale(s)!
