I guess business must be booming and no one's hungry...

My experience was that many of these shops have limited staff and aren't great about communication. After no/slow responses to web/email quote requests, I called places and got good info, and had great conversations. I suggest calling or stopping by places (if they are local) to get a quote quickly.

... renting a Uhaul trailer + truck for that trip twice would add 2hr roundtrip drives and $300 in rental time+mileage fees ... (I don't have a truck, just a recent Chevy Blazer that I could probably install a hitch on if that would be drastically cheaper)
Replying to my own post, classy . Anyway, looks like a hitch receiver + mount + ball for my Blazer would be ~$300 itself, and then a Uhaul trailer at $30 (twice) with no mileage fees ends up being not that much more expensive and then I'd have trailering ability for the future. This is probably the way to go regardless of which powdercoat shop I end up using.

Depending on your state laws, it will fit in the back of a short bed pickup but it hangs off the back. Attach a red flag and go. Places like Home Depot rent truck pretty cheap.

Finally got a reply back from a powder coat shop in the ballpark of what I expected cost and timing-wise. Annoyance being that it's 1hr away (Monroe, MI) and renting a Uhaul trailer + truck for that trip twice would add 2hr roundtrip drives and $300 in rental time+mileage fees. Anyone in the Royal Oak/Troy-ish area know of a cheaper transport method? (I don't have a truck, just a recent Chevy Blazer that I could probably install a hitch on if that would be drastically cheaper)

Getting replies back from powder coat shops was surprisingly difficult. I tried Quality Powdercoat (Highland) and they didn't respond by phone, then stopped replying to email after a couple back and forth replies. Also Supreme Media Blast & Powder Coating (Clinton Twp) didn't respond to either web form inquiry or any phone calls. I guess business must be booming and no one's hungry... The only one who has been responsive so far is Jeff's Powder Coat in Monroe, but it's kind of far. I may just branch out and try the Yellow Pages for my area, crossing my fingers.

I have a 7x12 open utility trailer you can borrow if you'd like. Or if you don't want to throw a hitch on the blazer and cover the gas I'll drive you. I dont care either way. Looks like you have an extended frame so my carpeted boards I have screwed to the deck of my trailer still will work to hold it and place and your powdercoat won't get scratched up on the return trip.

That's awesome, thank you! I think that seals the deal. I'll get the hitch installed and nail down a powder coat place and reach out to you when I have better idea of timing. Taking Sluggonaut's advice, I'll also check which shops nearby have weekend hours and just go over there in person with photos. Harder to ignore that way, and less chance of miscommunication :D

You're welcome.

If you don't mind my asking, what were you quoted for blasting and powder coat?

I have some bars and trick tabs to add to my frame but then I'll be doing this dance (calling any and all shops within 100 miles for quotes), but I have no idea what to expect cost wise.

Sure, Jeff's Powder Coat priced my frame + tunnel bits at $1000 and 2 weeks turnaround for blasting and coating with Prismatic Powders Illusion Purple. I saw other forumgoers' quotes in the $800-$1000 range in the MI area so it seemed fair enough.

Thanks! I was thinking $750-1000, so that's inline with what I was guessed. We'll see how the market is here in KY, but I imagine it won't be any higher than in MI.

Excellent choice.
I have always been a big fan of purple (it was one of my alma mater's colors) and especially on cars it's so rare that it sticks out every time. For a while I was debating whether to purchase one of the 2019 Violet Touch Golf R cars in the Spektrum program. I mean look at this thing:

The most difficult choice with the Goblin frame is whether to go bluish or reddish purple.

That's a beaut for sure. How long have you had it? And which is faster, that or the Goblin? (straight line mostly, Goblin ought to demolish nearly anything in corners)
I bought it new in 2018. It’s a M6. It all depends on which one hooks up 0-60. Then after that the hellcat is gone.

Big thank you to @Mahkoi for letting me borrow his utility trailer (which conveniently already has blocks in it for holding an Extended Goblin frame!). On Friday I'll be delivering the frame and tunnel bits to Jeff at JP Coatings in Monroe.

Still slowly plugging away at the electrical wiring. I grabbed a handful of hopefully-useful connector end view diagrams and got manila wire tags so my next step is labeling each connector before continuing the harness modification. I don't actually mind doing stuff like this labeling, it's kind of puzzle-ish which is fun.
