V1 Frank's Florida Street Goblin Build (#227) - 06 SS, 2.4L donor

CaptFrank2001
Got all the lights hooked up and working today. Used some really nice, waterproof connectors on the headlights & turn signals so it took a lot longer. Hard wired the back lights for now but will put waterproof connectors there too (on back-order). Also put in the passenger seat. Pretty soon it's on to alignment.

I made this from memory but I believe it is correct. It's to wire the Taillights to the car with the DF supplied LED Taillights.

Finally ..... finally figure out the start/clutch safety circuit problem. The previous owner of the donor had hot wired a push start button. Very dangerous in a car with a manual transmission. I searched and wire traced, tested fuses and swapped relay's but just could not figure it out. Finally today after finding NO bad components I figured it must be a bad wire and that's what it was. The wife from the crank relay to the starter solenoid was bad. Ran a new wire and all is as it should be. Time for a beer.

Those are the type of issues that will kick your butt. It’s not often when a wire itself goes bad. Much more common to see a wife go bad though.

Time to widen those rear fenders. I split them lengthwise and added a 1-1/2" strip up the middle. Bottom is done, now it's time to finish the top.

Still figuring out the wider rear tire setup. Had to fabricate a bracket to raise the fender app. 1" (Not the final version, but close) Also had to slightly bend the bracket on the Shock/coil-over to get the fender horizontal. Fiberglass is finished on the bottom, still working on the top. I think the 275 width tires really look good on the back. Progress. Edit: Just added a picture of the Rear Fender Brackets I made. Amazing what you can do with a cut-off wheel & a 40 grit rotary sander.

What is the goal of your fenders? Is it to prevent rocks, rain and etc from getting thrown around, or to make the man happy
Yes, Yes & No. Fenders are not required here in Florida. I like the look with fenders. The nice thing is if it turns out later that I don't like them I can just unbolt them, no harm no foul. Also with fenders I have more places to put graphics. I'm a retired, disabled Submarine Veteran & might put some cool military theme graphics on the fenders.

You can trim quite a bit off of the inside of the fenders to gain clearance.

We trim them up to the start of the radius.
Great advice, thanks. I did that on the front tires which are 245"s. However, the rear tires are 275's (close to 11" wide) I had to widen the rear fenders 1-1/2". I will also have to trim along the radius on the rear's as well. Also with the additional tire height I had to raise the fenders about 1" so I had to fabricate some brackets to do that.

Since you can work with fiberglass, why not make your own molds and custom fenders for the rear? I only mention it because the rear tires look like they have a larger circumference than the fenders so they look too small visually. May have just been the angle of the picture though.

I am FAR from a fiberglass expert. I learned how to do it by having a wooden Garvey boat in NJ as a teen. I was always putting fiberglass tape on the wood seams to stop the leaks.

Fenders - To fender or not to fender that is the question. The Drivers side is done. In order to fit the tires I had to make adapters to move the fenders about 1" out & 1" up from the stock brackets. Also had to widen the rear fender 1-1/2". Also decided to go with the Seibon wing & have the DF supplied supports painted and in place.
